I am size 20 - big everywhere. I was wondering whether knee lenght boots with thick tights/leggings and a keen or just below skirt would be a good idea?? It would be ill advised for me to show any part of my tree trunk legs above the mid-shin so - any advice anyone??

absolutely fine as long as the boots fit round the upper calf and don't dig in. If you're 'big' everywhere then you're well-proportioned, right? :)

Yes I agree with hoto. Good look IMO.

tights would be better
boots with heels too (I know from experience :) )

I think a dress would be a better option - will elongate you being all in one iykwim.

I'd do a medium thickness, good quality fitted dress, dense - but not thick tights, knee length, wedge boots and maybe a waistcoat or cardi in a lighter weight over the top (to hide some bumps - if required).

Agree a dress elongates and slims better, rather than skirt and top. Also would suggest hem of dress comes slightly lower than top of boots iyswim. Keeps the look sleek imo

Have a look on Evans or La Redoute Taillisme (sp?) website and see if there are any styles that the larger models can pull off and adopt them.

Longer dress = dressier, classier - but if your kness are up to it - shorter can sometimes = trendier. So whichever look you want to aim for.....
What height are you?
