bikini wax etiquette - was this normal

so had wax today havent had this therapist before said i just wanted extensive but specifically not brazillian (have had one before so know what one entails)

well she said to go pantless - ok unusual normally keep them on or paper pants but didnt say anything having had two DCs have bared all

then she pretty much gave me a brazillian said lets go nice and high

then she massaged the cream in everywhere i mean everywhere...normally they smear a little on and say rub in yourself.

is this a bit unusual?

What's unusual?

You getting all your fanny hair stripped....

Or a woman who took it too far??

Really?

Normal. I find it totally varies from therapist to therapist.

I rocked up for a bikini wax once with no knickers on. I was convinced I had to take them off last time. The therapist was all Shock and I spent an embarrassing 20 minutes trying to hold a piece of paper towel over my bits Blush

Oh and it does sound like she was a bit too hands-on! Confused

I think therapists vary hugely wrt how hands on they are. She probably does a million waxes a day and doesn't even think about rubbing the cream in. It's all the same to her I reckon!

Mine rubs lotion everywhere too. And I go knickers off. I say normal too.

I am sure there is nothing untoward here.
Mine does all sorts.

spout, I don't think OP is a troll. Naughty you for troll-hunting. Tsk.

thanks spout thats the first time i have been called a troll Sad....reason for post in middle of night is i am in NYC and it was 10pm here and i had had a few Wine Blush

it was just totally different from any other wax i have had and seemed a bit too hands on i didnt think it was untoward but just was a bit uncomfortable with it and given you could see the line i normally get waxed to she decided to go quite a bit further which i could tell but once she'd started there wasnt a lot i could do, seems like you all say it varies on who you see.

The bikini waxes I've had in New York have always been more thorough than the smear tests I've had in London.

Don't come to the Middle East, you would be horrified! Thank god my IPL marks the end to the embarrassment of Far Eastern attitudes to waxing!
By the way, calling this OP a troll is pathetic and signifies everything I despise about the MN middle aged bully brigade, wtf is trolly about this?

LOL at Tatty.

I have a full wax but always wear the paper pants, she does rub the cream in thoroughly - never given it a second thought before.

Want to swap? My new waxer doesn't even make me put my knee up to my ear to wax the bum fluff Grin

To be fair on spout, I was more than a bit Hmm when I read the OP - can't you see why, milkmilk?

Glad it's been cleared up though.

I have absolutely no idea if it's normal btw op, although it sounds OK reading others' posts. I can't say any of it is making having a wax any more appealing though Grin

I'm more of an au naturel gal myself but having heard brazillian horror stories details from my more groomed friends OP didn't raise an eyebrow here either.

Though along the same lines as Tatty I was going to ask if she used the left over wax for his her knuckles Grin

ComradeJing · 26/08/2011 14:50

The waxers here all do the same thing but they use a Shock baby wipe on you first!

Report
sparkle1977 · 26/08/2011 16:37

good grief, exactly why I am not tempted to go for a wax.

Report
smartyparts · 26/08/2011 17:04

I have the full brazilian so no pants, but she gives me the lotion at the end and I rub it in myself.

I am soooo never going for a bikini wax. There are certain parts of my anatomy only I should be grooming.

I once had a therapist use a new kind of wax that, "you don't rip off with a cotton strip, its just removed with a gentle flicking motion and is only for use in the er central Brazilian area....." Never went back and funny enough no salon i've been to since has ever heard of this Blush

Report
Karbea · 26/08/2011 20:09

functifano thats hot wax, I had it for the first time the last time I was waxed, and I must admit it was a million times less painful than using a cotton strip, I hope the salon use it again next time I'm waxed.

Op I find therapists range from those who do it for you, to those who give the cream to you. I've been waxed for years either way doesn't bother me.
