I want to treat myself to a pair of boots for the winter but hav'nt got a clue what to buy, would like them to be flat or flat(ish) ,black (or maybe brown) and calf length (top of calf). Also need to be able to buy in a 5.5.

What boots are you buying? inspire me please Grin.

None! I invested in a pair of Dubarry Boots last year so no need this year although I do like a pair of suede wedges in Clarks!

I like the first pair, i had something similar to the 2nd pair a few years back and they were very comfy, i might have to pop into clarks to try some on.

Have a look at Oxygen Shoes website, they have a great sale on at the moment.. they are struggling financially I think and have a few sample boots going really cheap, I bought 2 pairs for £60.. They aren't everyone's cup of tea, being a bit chunky but see what you think! Sandals are very comfy too and have a birkenstock style footbed.. The bloke said he'd rather sell them to individual purchasers who love their shoes ( me) than sell them to TKMaxx who will mark up prices hugely.. I like that idea..

I am seriously considering some Mel rubber boots for when the snow comes. Currently I have att pair of Asda wellies but they have no heel and the Mel boots do and the Mel boots are ankle boots. Last year I unsucessfully qued for wellies twice and wasnt prepared to pay the inflatted prices that some places that did have them in were selling them for. I am currently waiting for Debenhams or another retailer to have a promo on in order to seriously consider them.

these

They're an old ugg style. Proper sole, leather, sheep skin lining. Perfect.

Are they waterproof (ish) Decapitated?

DJAngel - what are the sizes like on Oxygen? I can see a couple I like - but it says on their sizing guide that a 41 is an 8.5 - every other shop in the uk would say a 41 is a 7.
And are they narrow on the calf on the longer styles??

I wouldn't wade through puddles in them but they're fine in snow.

I was on the mobile site last night and it looks like they're out of stock but they're available here www.legendfootwear.co.uk/caterpillar-caribou-brown-suede-womens-boots-23248.html and a few other places.

They're not quite to the top of my calf though. And they're not in half sizes but I just got a size up. The lining's really plush and cosy so there's not much room to slip around.

I can't see a phone number on the oxygen web site. Anyone know where I can get a hold of it? I emailed them asking re sizing - but am impatient to order!!!

Sorry not been on today.. I'm a size 4 or maybe 5 usually but am 37 with oxygen shoes.. They are similar to birkenstock sizing if that helps.. Boots came today and 37 boots fit fine.. few scratches on the sample boots but at £28/£33 a go can't complain.. and top of boots seem quite roomy.. My calves aren't skinny or huge and they seem fine, with room for a pair if woolly tights or skinny jeans.. tel no is 0208 9934374.. hth..

So the question is Volga in brown or Usk in black? Please don't say both, although that's what I'm secretly thinking Grin

Report
TracyK · 26/08/2011 13:00

I like the Volga - but also the Usk - just not as much - if you have to choose one over the other!

Has anyone tried/got any of the wackier colours?

I think my only choices are brown - Volga, Rhine or Danube.
Would have loved a lilac pair - but don't see any 41 or 42's,.

Report
TracyK · 26/08/2011 13:28

hee hee - just ordered Volga in the lilac and Danube in the brown. They should add a decent search facility on the boots page ie - what is in stock of each colour by a specific size rather than trawling in and out of each style.

Marne · 26/08/2011 14:49

Im liking the lilac Volga Grin might have to go for it.
