short curly hair.....anyone?

My hair is long and curly, it has been the same way pretty much for 23 years except the ravages of time (straighteners, high-lights, stress, pregnancy etc.) has made the once shiny springy ringlets go into crappy limp half curls half waves that just look shit.

I end up straightening it all the time which doesn't help. I'm tempted to try to get the life back into it and go short, DH thinks I'll be a recluse and cry for 2 years until it grows back but I'm so BORED!!!

Anyone else done this? If you have any pictures of cool pretty low maintenance curly hairstyles please post them!!

I have just had my curlylocks cut short at the back but as it's a graduated bob I still have length at the front.Interestingly though the hairdresser insisted on cutting it dry,she said that she would straighten it then cut it how it will be styled, never had this done before but it's a really good cut,no guessing as to how much my hair is going to spring up.She also said the style I now have looks fab just left curly .....I love it & no regrets :o

I had mine cut to just on the shoulders and a fringe, just over a week ago. It was cut dry. After the initial "OMG, what have I done!" phase, and I'd washed it, I love it now. It's so easy to care for with no matted bit at the base of my neck. Mine was halfway down my back, curly and extremely thick.

Mines is just above my shoulders and cut so I can straighten or leave curly - usually leave to dry itself with some mouse in so it is curly. I had it cut this away after years of highlights and straightening to give hair a break, it will never be the most sought after cut but looks quite pretty with a few grips to hold back to mega bouncy curls and I tend to straighten it when going out for a different look.

Oooh I am thinking of this too. I'd love it like carrie in season five of satc but I'm worried it would look atrocious if I overslept one morning and couldn't wash it. At the moment I do a ponytail or bun every day which I hate but I might hate high maintenance more...

I've got short curly hair, a graduated bob cut really close in at the neck. I'm doing the curly girl routine and it helps (with frizz) too. (Can't link to it sorry - just google)

does the curly girl routine involve washing with conditioner? I tried that once and my head itched like mad and my scalp just didn't feel clean...hmm.

Yeah it does involve washing with conditioner, my head itched at first too but I wonder if it just takes a bit of getting used to. I sometimes shampoo it with Body Shop rainforest when it feels that way - probably x2 month and my hair's adjusted to the routine now Smile
