I'm thinking of going for a Brazilian wax but I'm scared. I don't know what to expect. Do I keep my knickers on or not? On a scale of 1-10 how painful is it? Please can someone talk me through it?

Get a good recomendation and go for a consultation. They've seen and heard it all! If you can find a specialist then that would be better than a general salon that does a bit of everything.

I take 2 neurofen plus and a bar of chocolate before (in theory it helps you ro produce endorphins if any encouragement required). You can keep your knickers on or wear the paper ones provided by the therapist. She might suggest going for a more extreme bikini wax first to see how you and your skin cope. There are new waxing prducts available now that are much more gentle on "sensitive" areas and are not ripped off, rather a more gentle peeling motion.
In terms of "talking you through it" - to the front visual hair waxed as usual, for the unders and areas that would normally be covered by knickers, she will guide you where to help her stretch out the skin. A certain amount of splaying and holding up of legs is required. A good beauty therapist will keep all but the small area that she is working on covered to help prevent you feeling vulnerable.
I find underarms worse as i usually have been shaving them so the hair growth is in lits of different directions and I have not ever attacked my Brazilian bits with a razor!

AFAIK you definately don't keep your knickers on!

I manage to do my own at home though.

I'm always given the choice and feel happier with them on, maybe I have an underlying fear of fire drills! What length are your arms? Grin
