Regular S&B frequenter here, but have name changed for this thread!

I haven't been swimming since I had DC2 2 years ago, but am going next week (eek!) so I bought a bikini in the sales today...I've put a pic of me wearing it in my profile, I just want your honest opinions on whether it looks okay or not, I think it looks just about passable (I don't think I'll get pointing and laughing)...but I don't know confused

Your opinions and help if needed is very, very welcome!

MissBeehiving Sat 13-Aug-11 18:44:51

You look great. smile

bishboschone Sat 13-Aug-11 18:45:33

i think you look fine..nice flat tum smile

BeHonestWithMePlease Sat 13-Aug-11 18:51:22

It's not as flat as I'd ideally like, but then, we don't always get what we want! It's only a v.v. cheap bikini, I am going to treat myself to a suck in high waisted belly covering one when I have the money but this will have to do for now!

I'm feeling a little bit more confident grin

whostolemyname Sat 13-Aug-11 18:53:28

It looks fine! No one will point and laugh i promise!

LynetteScavo Sat 13-Aug-11 18:59:46

No one will point and laugh.

You bod if fine! (In the there is nothing wrong with it sense, not the "fine wink" you are a hot babe and I am an American guy sense. )

Are you breathing in? hmm envy

If I was being really critical, the bottoms look a bit big, and could be skimpier, but that wouldn't actually cross my mind if I saw you at the pool.

overthemill Sat 13-Aug-11 19:00:37

god, if i looked this good clothed i'd chuffed! you look great

LynetteScavo Sat 13-Aug-11 19:01:25

You bod if fine! = You're body is fine!

Not that you asked.

And I don't fancy you.

I am digging a HUGE how here.

bigTillyMint Sat 13-Aug-11 19:03:50

You have a great body and would look lovely in any swimwear.

Not sure about the big knickers though smile

rookiemater Sat 13-Aug-11 19:04:45

Ok you look fine in a bikini, you have a great trim toned top half. Like Lynette I feel that the bottoms are a bit big. I think a skimpier bottom part with tie sides would actually be more flattering for you.

BeHonestWithMePlease Sat 13-Aug-11 19:09:19

Wow, I never thought I'd have people saying to me to wear a skimpier bottom part blush

I bought the bigger ones purposely instead of the side tie ones because I do have the dreaded c-section overhang (that won't bloody shift no matter how much I work out!!!), but I do have a big bum so maybe the bigger pants are just emphasising it instead of camouflaging it? They do have a drawstring at the side, I could draw them in and make them look smaller perhaps?

Hahaha Lynette wink thank you very much!

madammecholet Sat 13-Aug-11 19:11:03

OK honestly, you look more than fine, but I do think those pants are too big, they are drawing attention to the area and away from your boobs, which are great, plus they are shortening your leg a bit. If they have drawstring sides, which I think they do, just cinch them up a tad to elongate your leg more..

madammecholet Sat 13-Aug-11 19:12:00

Sorry x post,.....DRAW them up!!

Big Bum = use skimpier bottoms to make the overall appearance smaller....

BeHonestWithMePlease Sat 13-Aug-11 19:16:38

Yep, they're drawstring ones, I'll cinch them in for definite! They do cut my legs up at the side when they're not drawn in, I see what you all mean now!

Fluffycloudland77 Sat 13-Aug-11 21:09:29

You look great, lovely waistline you've got there.

I do think you could do with skimpier bottoms too.

I'm a size 8 and I get self conscious in swimming pools. I didnt even own a bikini till 3 weeks ago.

I reckon everyone in the pool is thinking "I hope no ones noticed my (insert insecurity)".

So true! Even someone who looks like a model probably has something they're self-concious about...

Thehusbandsatcricketagain Sat 13-Aug-11 21:55:35

flipping jealous here, lovely figure, you have what I want instead of a stupid large waist, small hips thingy.....

strictlovingmum Sat 13-Aug-11 21:55:57

You look great, smile but as someone already mentioned, wrong style bottoms, shorts.
You could have easily gotten away with proper 70's style bikini bottoms, much narrower at the hips, you got really nice legs, small waist, and round hips, get a real bikini bottoms, don't be a wussgrin

BulletWithAName Sat 13-Aug-11 22:20:26

I think I'm going to take everyone's advice and invest in some smaller pants now! grin

I've seen some nice foldover ones, like these which I think I might be able to pull off...well according to you all I can, so I'm gonna go for it! shock

BulletWithAName Sat 13-Aug-11 22:21:29

Ahhhh crap. Forgot to namechange again! blush Well done me! not used to namechanging at all

strictlovingmum Sat 13-Aug-11 22:25:58

Beautiful, that's more like it.

polyhymnia Sat 13-Aug-11 23:30:52

Wow that looks great - go for it.

PetiteMum Sat 13-Aug-11 23:38:36

You look fine! Am jealous of your toned midriff lol! Although the bottoms don't seem to go, almost look as though you forgot to put bikini bottoms on? But I believe I'm repeating above opinions. You look great, strut your stuff!

BulletWithAName Sat 13-Aug-11 23:43:41

I'm definitely rethinking the bottoms thanks to the MN jury grin

HellonHeels Sun 14-Aug-11 15:41:32

Another vote for "you look fab!". Lovely waist and you've got toned abs. I don't mind the big bikini bottoms but I defer to the others. Enjoy your swim.
