What's your opinion on those loose, baggy (usually patterned) trousers?

First time I saw them was on my cousin the morning after a wedding. I thought they looked ridiculous/like she was wearing pyjamas.

Since then I've seen them EVERYWHERE - Topshop, Warehouse, River Island, Next, Tesco, and they're sort of starting to grow on me...

What do you think of them?

I like them if the pattern is tasteful: saw a woman wearing a navy pair with a small white pattern and a white blouse and they looked lovely.

Was she very slim? Not sure I'd pull them off with my curves!

mistressploppy Sun 07-Aug-11 20:42:36

Yes, I'm a curvy 16/18 and they made me look like a very thick tree sad

TrillianAstra Sun 07-Aug-11 20:43:29

They're usually made of very thin material aren't they?

Clarence15 Sun 07-Aug-11 20:44:21

I used to wear them when I was 15 and the size of a small twig. Although not quite tree trunk size now, I do have a bigger bottom than I used to and I'm not sure I could carry them off any more. I think bottom size dictates them (ie big butt = no flowery trews)

They look fab with a vest type top and a thick belt IF you are size 8 and 20's or under imo !
Actually my dd 6 asked for some today.

harem pants?

They do suit a few people. But the sort of people who'd suit most things

dreghorn Sun 07-Aug-11 20:47:05

I think they are awful.

cyb Sun 07-Aug-11 20:48:01

They're not really hareem, more loose tapered

I think for teens only really, havent seen anyone older attempting to wear them

DrNortherner Sun 07-Aug-11 20:48:12

I have some cream ones with navy spots from River Island and love them. They look great with wedges and a vest. I am too short to wear with flats.

I think they are horrible and not at all flattering. They remind me of late 80s greboes.

DrNortherner Sun 07-Aug-11 20:48:36

I am nearly 35 btw.

JennyPiccolo Sun 07-Aug-11 20:51:09

i like them. I'm 26.

pointydog Sun 07-Aug-11 20:51:36

Is there a link to these trews?

cyb Sun 07-Aug-11 20:51:59

I think its the polyesterness of them that puts me off too

DrNortherner Sun 07-Aug-11 20:52:38

palazzo trews

cyb Sun 07-Aug-11 20:53:59

I thought you meant more this style

pointydog Sun 07-Aug-11 20:54:01

oh! Are we talking palazzo? More people suit them.

BleurghUna Sun 07-Aug-11 20:54:18

The wide legged floaty ones are lovely. Not keen on the tapered ones though.

pointydog Sun 07-Aug-11 20:54:42

Well the taoered would be ok for many apart from the hideous print.

pointydog Sun 07-Aug-11 20:55:04

We really don't know what we are discussing here, math

cyb Sun 07-Aug-11 20:55:13

shoes a dilemma with wide leggedy ones though- NOT A COURT SHOE (despite what the M and S website would have you believe)

pointydog Sun 07-Aug-11 20:55:49

Big wedgy sandally things

Meglet Sun 07-Aug-11 20:56:08

I love them, especially the 80's flowery prints.

They're just not very practical for me, I'd tear them within days.
