Is LUSH a rip off?

A friend of mine just loves their stuff. She gave me a couple of bath melts as a gift. They were nice. They were okay. But I didn't find them anything extraordinary.

Went into the shop this evening to get her Xmas pressie. They gave me their newsletter.

Had a rifle through it when I got home.

TBH, I wasn't impressed.

Am I the only one who finds this stuff a rip?

I went in their shop the other day - I though it was quite pricey although I did get given loads of stuff by someone I knew that worked packing the things I had it in my car for ages until I worked out why I kept getting headaches - the strong smell of bathbombs! I haven't used them since!

It was terribly whiffy in there. I'm 38 weeks pregnant, too, so when the shop assistant asked if I wanted help I was only too glad to hand her my list and make a quick exit. She wanted this lip balm called 'Egg Snog' that smells like soured milk to me. Yuk.

i lvoe their stuff. havent ordered in ages, but dd1 likes it too. the baby baff bombs dont irratate their skin so its good for them to have something different. (i split them in 2 tho?)

Bought one or two bits as a treat.
The conditioner Veganese is very nice and works a treat.
Also bought some baby shampoo from there, meant to be good. It doesn't lather too much and makes rinsing easier. As my son hates having hios hair messed with.

it is horrible stuff, so overperfumed. I have bought some bath bombs for a teenaged niece as a gift (she loves them) and although they are nestled in tissue in a cardboard box, and giftwrapped they are still stinking out my understairs cupboard!

thought of putting one in my bath makes me itch just thinking about it.... eugh

It's all I've asked for xmas! TBh, I think sometimes you just have to find one of their products to be hooked. Their perfume smells scrummy (although I do agree it is overpriced), one of their ballistics is just delicous. Got some lovely soap from there (it was ice cream themed) and one of their sparkly talcs was lovely too. Give it another try. I also love about them that they have a fresher phillosophy to employment. They are supposed to be one of the best places to work, and also the staff are helpful, friendly and informative always. Also sometimes they give you free things when you buy stuff. I love a freebie (and yes, I know that I already pay for it but ignorance can be bliss!!)

I knew someone who bought one of their bubble bars and used it as air freshner in her office! She'd snip a bit off every now and again to top up the smell.

Thats the other thing I've found actually EPIS. A lot of the stuff smells nothing special in the tin, but somehow smells completely different when you use it.

that's because the staff are high on the fumes

I think the shop is so smelly, you can't really get a sense of what the stuff smells like outside that.

Got to give a huge thums up to Assisi shampoo which is incredible and so easy to use on ds - really low lather and amazing scent and Dreamwash which seems to have cleared up his eczema entirely! Agree the shops are very gag inducing.

Maybe I should hang onto this newsletter rather than using it to line the cats' litter tray . . .

Bought some 'Aroma' soap there recently and I just love the smell wafting out of the shower. It has patchouli oil in it I think - a smell of my youth!

Hate the smell too - sets my wheezing off. I have to hold my breath as I walk past.

they have a branch over here, Western Australia, just up the road in a posh mall in fact ( and a Body Shop).

I followed the fortunes of the mother company Constantine and Weir, based in Poole, and this is their third or fourth attempt at successful branding. They make the stuff in Japan to ship to Asia and Australia. It is seen here as a premium product.

Never touch the stuff myself

oh great I just bought a load of prezzies there for teachers, gym class staff etc, sort of £5-6 boxes all nicely packaged, thought it made a change from the eternal box of Celebrations...
Have I boobed?
