bikini/swimsuit holiday dilemma

I'm going on holiday in September, a week in the sun - beaches, swimming pools, that kinda thing

I'm a size 18 with 36H norkage and I can't find a bikini anywhere that will contain my boobs adequately. I am way too old and saggy to get away with the triangle over the nipples look.

Now I know that I can go to bravissimo/john lewis/wherever and get a bikini that fits properly, but they are £££ and I can't really justify the spend for a week's use

I'd rather spend the cash on a cossie that I can wear in the UK, we go swimming most weeks so it would be worth the investment

But will I be too hot in 30+ degrees in a one piece swimsuit?

What to do???

I'm in a minority on this site because at 50 and in reasonable nick, size 10 I don't think it is right to inflict the sight of someone my age in a bikini on the general public. My view ( and I know it is not a common one ) is that at 45 + unless you have a really exceptionaly good body you should be in a one piece. So, I have lots of exerience of being inhot place in a swimsuit and provided you actually like going in the water and sitting in a bit of shade you will not feel too hot. If you never go in the water and like to bake I don't know.

That's reassuring higgle, thanks. I've just lurked on too many "you'll be way too hot in a one piece, no one wears them on the beach" etc etc type threads I suppose. I'm very fair and burn easily so won't be baking, I'll be in the shade a lot and in the water with the dc's too so looks like it's a swimsuit then :), thanks

I guess it depends on whether you swim or just sunbathe. I burn too easily for bikinis and indeed often stick a Tshirt over my costume, but I'm never dry for long. I go to the med for on reason and one reason only to be able to swim outdoors reliably everyday. Luckily I have fish for DCs and a DH that was brought up by the sea. I know I'm sure I puzzle people for going somewhere really hot and then wearing uk style rash vests rather than worshipping the sun, but never mind.

I definitely won't be sun worshipping, I like warm weather and lack of rain (normally we holiday in the UK but we're bored of rain) but I'm not a sunbather and I'm not arsed about getting a tan.

Swimsuit it is then :)

I have tons of freckles and the parts of my body that are regularly exposed to the sun cope very well. My tummy will stay pure white, or burn. A bikini is not for me! I'd look very silly. I'm like Startail and am more likely to be in the med in a rash vest playing in the sea!

I've never been too hot in a one piece. This year I got a tankini from Maine, which has quite a long top, if it's too hot I could roll it up a little I suppose. There's always tons of other people in one piece cossies.

Brastop have this (and only this!) in your size, £35ish so not too bad.

Even in a one piece you need a properly fitted one with such impressive norks.

I don't think you will be too hot in a cossie, it's not that much extra fabric, but personally I would go for a bikini.

If you are going to wear it every day for a week, that is a reasonable amount of time to be worth getting properly measured for imo.

The cossie I have I actually got in Asda but I can't find anything anywhere like it at the moment that isn't old ladyish and it's about to give up on me

Better to keep my stomach covered anyway, not just because of the ravages of time and two chldren but because it's so bloody pasty it's likely to burn badly anyway
