Questions for Babyliss Big Hair Afficienados.....

Thinking of asking for one for my birthday.
Understand that it gives sleek straight finish to hair but does it give volume AT THE ROOTS???
This is really what I need.

Absolutely! Best hair purchase I've made. Smoothes and lifts/ waves, rather than smooths and 'lankens' (? is there such a word? as with straighteners - on my hair anyway).

I have naturally wavy hair which is frizzy if not properly blow-dried by hairdresser (or with BBH :) )

I totally love it, and agree with MrsSB that it will give much more bounce and volume than straighteners. It also really smooths your hair and makes the back easy to blow dry. If you roughly dry with a normal hairdryer, then add some product at roots and then use the BBH you will get the best root lifting effect.

But if you really want volume, there's something even better. The Babyliss root boost - it's a small, thin crimper that you use at the roots. I have thick, straightish hair that kinks and goes a bit bushy if left to dry on its own. So I use the Big Hair for smoothness and bounce and to turn under a bit at the ends, and I boost the roots with the crimper. It is amazing. Really. Proper root lift.

It's very good at smoothing, but to be honest, I don't get a lot of volume - I've got quite fine curly hair. However, if I dry it with the BBH, then stick some velcro rollers in at the roots (easy, because you've already sectioned out the hair to dry it), then blast with some root spray, the volume lasts.

lawnimp my hair is very much like dearprudence's by the sound of things. Thick with kinks and bushy - lovely when styled by the hairdresser or when I use my Babyliss Curling Wand (bloody amazing BTW).
dearprudence I have seen the afore mentioned Root Boost and wondered about it.......maybe a root boost is called for rather than a big hair........

I have thick, straight hair cut into a graduated bob and I cannot live without my Babyliss Big hair. It gives me a sleek yet bouncy bob and doesnt seem to stress my hair like normal blowdrying does. Love it.

How long does your hair have to be to use the BBH? Mine is quite short - down to bottom of my ears at longest bit.
