I am imagining a useful manicure tool. Does it exist, or am I going to have to patent it?

Ah! Sort of (in that it does sort of exist)

The French Manicure "form" sticker that comes in french manicure packs is basically to get the "smile line" of the french manicure right. Obviously that's at the other end of the nail.

But the "angle" of the curve is basically set to be perpendicular with the end and thus would work at the cuticle.

So what you need is some French Manicure form stickers, and try them at the cuticle.

Hell I'm going to try it when I get back from Hell Centreparcs grin

Or, use a tiny lip gloss brush (like the ones that come free with a lip gloss palette) dip it in polish remover and run along bottom of nail. Or just purposely go tight over to the skin, then soak hands/ feet once properly dry (or wait till bath/shower) and scrape off skin with another nail, will come off really easily.

'right' over skin, sorry

My manicurist friend advised me to do as rolling says. Works!

you can also buy a polish remover pen, like this.

or why not stickers instead of polish - no untidy cuticles any more

those are a bit colorful for my taste, but I've seen them in neutral and normal nail polish colours as well
