In brief:

Posh extended family lunch thing on Saturday for a golden wedding anniversary.

Unutterably dreadful week from hell at work. Absolutely zero opportunity to go shopping. Nothing whatsoever to wear.

Cannot even go to Next / M&S at local retail park in the evenings as DH works away from home and no childcare (and just cannot face dragging 5,6 & 7 y.o shopping of an evening in last week of term, it would be suicidal).

Please find me something vaguely suitable, up to £70, from an online retailer that can deliver by close of business Friday.

Next will deliver the following day if you order online before 9pm.

Ok shape,size, height, colouring, style

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 21:42:03

I am 5'11, size 12-14, typical Irish dark hair, pale skin.

Late 30s.

Stomach bit of a disaster area. B/C cup bust.

Wish I knew about style - I've been trying to answer that one for about 25 years! Not too conservative, I like a bit of colour, texture, nice design features, but nothing that requires me to be too body-confident.

Does that help?

Can you give an idea of budget? And do you ideally want a dress or trousers/top combo?

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 21:48:15

up to £70 I think, although if you found me something stupendous that was £75 I'd stretch to it grin

I've been thinking dresses, on the basis that it's only one item to worry about, and also being very long of leg, it's quite hard to get trousers to fit (that said, Next long ones are often OK).

I'm very happy to have skirt / trousers + top combination, it's just that clothes shopping seems to panic me these days so I don't really know where to start.

I love this

Sorry, both of those bit over budget.

Pretty if you can carry off the length

Nice print

blindassassin Wed 13-Jul-11 21:50:55

How about something like this silk skirt with matching shirt from Wrap? Both on sale so good prices I think. Will keep looking.

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 21:51:05

love the turquoise Oasis one, Gaston

blindassassin Wed 13-Jul-11 21:51:37

Sorry keep x posting! Will start looking at dresses now.

GastonTheLadybird Wed 13-Jul-11 21:54:12

I suspect this is very flattering on tummy area

If you're brave with your prints

blindassassin Wed 13-Jul-11 21:56:07

I know it's Boden, but this silk skirt could be worth a punt at the price. I've just bought this cream top which is lovely and could look good with it. Both bargains. OK, now onto dresses I promise!

GastonTheLadybird Wed 13-Jul-11 21:57:25

Overbudget but a classic

blindassassin Wed 13-Jul-11 21:58:35

More Boden but a dress this time

MissBeehiving Wed 13-Jul-11 21:58:44

Too understated

good colour and price

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 21:59:21

grin @ blindassassin 'I know it's Boden, but...'

Not averse to Boden, and that skirt is nice. I would definitely get to wear that again too, it would be good for work in the summer.

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 22:01:13

MissBee's understated dress is the sort of thing you could get away with if you were breathtakingly gorgeous yourself (which I'm seriously not!!)

MissBeehiving Wed 13-Jul-11 22:03:01

I'm sure you are gorgeous Expecto smile

GastonTheLadybird Wed 13-Jul-11 22:03:30

if you can pull off silver/grey

pretty pink

ExpectoPatronum Wed 13-Jul-11 22:05:11

More Boden, but what about this? Do I only like it because it's cheap?

Tillyscoutsmum Wed 13-Jul-11 22:08:54

pretty colours and flattering on tum

CQrrrneee Wed 13-Jul-11 22:11:47
