Do you have a fringe?

and do you like it? I am considering one but am worried it might annoy me or be too much work. I have long thick curly hair. I need to tie it back sometimes.

Yes, I have one and I love it, and wouldn't go back now. However, I blow dry/straighten my hair as it's naturally wavy and I find the fringe doesn't sit well if I leave it to dry naturally - this could be something to consider for you?

Even if I leave the rest of my hair curly, I still give the fringe a blast with the dryer to keep it under control...

I wanted one for years but could never find a hairdresser with the balls to do it so in the end I cut it myself. I love it and would never go back to a no-fringe look. I trim it every week.

I use a large velcro roller after blowdrying and leave it in till just before I'm going out/to work. Gives my fringe the smoothness and the slightly retro 'rolled under' look that I want.

I do yes. I need to straighten it each morning but that takes literally 2 mins so it's not a bother. I can also pin it back or to the side if it's annoying. It grows so fast too, I often trim it myself (sinner).

I do, but only because of my huuuge forehead (think ant on bo-selector).

Also good for hiding wrinkles I believe.

Am pretty lazy hair wise, often tie hair back, and just straighten fringe (keep straighteners on dresser so just turn them on to heat up before brushing teeth) which takes about 10 seconds.

Only annoyance is when it's really hot gets a bit sweaty so push it to sides, or clip it back.

Oh and going to get it trimmed. My hairdresser does it for free, it's just getting into town is a pain. Won't do it myself due to trauma of years with ski-slope fringe (thanks mum).

Bunny my fringe is v like yours. I never tried using rollers - is it finickety? I do mine with straightners sort of guided with a comb, then when i get to the end sort of hold the end of hair in place with the comb, seems to 'set it' iyswim.

I have grown mine out for the first time in my adult life (just so see what it would be like really) but never found it to be a bother when I did have one, I used to just blow dry it quickly over a round brush every morning to smarten/straighten it, only took a moment. Used to just roll it over the brush more when it was getting a bit long and less when I'd just had it cut, so only had it done every 6 weeks with my normal haircut. Although if I was desperate I would trim it myself, never do it when it's wet and cut a very small portion at a time with the tips of scissors only are my tips.

I guess it is a wee bit more work, but I am so happy with it I don't mind! I used to straighten my hair anyway, so it's no big deal. I guess it depends how much time you spend on your hair at present.

I also have a fringe owing to large bonce. I hate it, as it never sits nicely. But it's better than looking like Frankenstein's monster.

No. I have curly hair and it would ping up if it was short. I can just about get away with shoulder length hair, any shorter and I look like Annie.

How I would love a choppy Alexa Chung bob with a fringe.....

Poor guy! I have ageing issues at the moment - I hate what I see in the mirror most days.

Mind you, I was looking at pix of me as a kid today and I have always had an unmanageable fringe!

Yes and yes.
I grow it out ever few years and then remember why I have to cut it back in : namely, when I have no fringe, I get short, very fine, slightly curly hairs growing at my hairline. It's like my forehead cannot contemplate being "bald". They never get any longer, either.
When I cut in a fringe, they disappear (I mean even when I lift up my fringe and look for them).

So. I'm sure there is a moral in there somewhere.

Oh, and BEWARE about cutting it yourself. I personally would never let anyone else do it - they always do it too short, but I've done that myself and had to live with a very interesting look for a few weeks until it grew! :o

Yes, my hair was down to my knees but i had it restyled. Now it's down the middle of my back and I have a fringe which sweeps diagonally across my face, sometimes I pin it up.

I have medium thick curly hair I never bother straightening it.

Have a look online for pictures of styles you want & have a consultation with your hairdresser first.

I love my new (ish) style.

Cheers Pootles She is pretty cute In answer to your question, no it's not finickity at all. You just lift up your fringe (oo-er missis) and place it on the roller. It stays in place till you take it out and then kinda just settles into place. T'is a doddle. I used to use my ghd's to curl it under but they always created a line/kink which I hated. Roller much better.

I'd love a fringe (& occasionally try one) but I have the worst cow's lick known to man, so it never works properly. Honestly - hairdressers marvel at the strength of its rebellion :(

You can still have a fringe with a cowlick. I had a very wayward one. My hairdresser taught me to blow-dry my fringe by brushing it from side-to-side until it was dry, then sectioning and straightening it. Fine mist of soft hold hairspray to finish it. After a couple of months the hair is "trained" to sit in place. :)

See, people say this, but it never works. I may try again with renewed vigour at some point - I'd love a proper fringe, especially as I manage to wrinkle the middle of my head into a straight vertical line somehow Thanks for the words of encouragement, though! :)

i have always ended up growing out my fringes before but i clipped my too long fringe to one side the other day and realised it's a fringe or botox at this point.

my hair is thick and frizzy, so i have to do my fringe every morning (with a hair drier). I find it easier than curly hair and not having a fringe though, and hoping that my curls (waves really) sat right. that was harder.

Well I did it and the jury is out still. I loved it yesterday when the hairdresser styled it but hate it today as my hair looks like a mop. Maybe I just need a bit of practice though.
