MAC Pro Longwear and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra are both really good long lasting foundations. You can get samples of either too so no expensive mistakes.

I'd like to suggest Estee Lauder's Double Wear - can also get (generous), samples to try at home.

I can recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear Light if you don't want full coverage but still want long lasting. I recently changed to this and am v impressed.

Ive tried them all, believe me, it is a life long mission....

Estee Lauder DoubleWear is peerless, the only thing I can put on and be sure it will last all day. It is quite full coverage so if its too heavy for you mix a little bit of primer or illuminating fluid and it becomes a little more sheer but just as lasting. Another good tip is to apply it with a brush, seems to keep it lighter. The DoubleWear Light is good as sheer coverage foundations go but not quite as long lasting ime.

I personally find Lancome Teint Idole a bit too matte and drying and not quite as long lasting as DW.

A recent budget find that is really good for the price is Rimmel 25hr Lasting Finish, nice dewy coverage and lasts really well if not all day. Great value at about £6

Hi

Please could you tell me where i could get some samples of the double wear to try at home as I find I am often colour matched wrong in the shop and find it a bit stressful and much prefer to try at home as well.I recently emailed ester Lauder to ask them and they said there were no samples. Many thanks for you advise as i need a long lasting foundation and have read many good reviews about this but don't want to waste money buying the wrong colour.

they should give you a sample to take home to try before you buy - at my local EL counter they made one up for me of the foundation in my shade

Yes, most counters will give you samples. You just have to ask. Occasionally you'll get a snooty person who won't but just go back when someone else is on counter or go to a different store.

DIOR Forever - my favourite foundation ever.....

foundations oxidise on me - ie I leave the shop looking fine and in ten minutes am bright orange - I explained that to the lady at the estee lauder counter (bog standard debenhams), and she gave me samples of three different shades.
