Playsuits. Really?

Are they not just universally horrible?

BulletWithAName Mon 04-Jul-11 13:59:15

That's a jumpsuit, not a playsuit wink

I personally like playsuits- hate jumpsuits though!

OTheHugeManatee Mon 04-Jul-11 13:59:50

I thought they were all playsuits. Is a playsuit one with shorts then?

I still think they're all horrible though.

TrillianAstra Mon 04-Jul-11 14:01:49

Playsuits are ones with shorts.

I believe they have been specially designed for 17 yr olds to wear so that when they are older they will look back and cringe.

BulletWithAName Mon 04-Jul-11 14:07:32

I think playsuits can look nice with a pair of skyscraper wedges. I'd never wear one though, not my style.

Jumpsuits are wrong always!

MollysChamber Mon 04-Jul-11 14:10:11

All I can think of is trying to have a wee in a public convenience half naked and trying to prevent swathes of fabric landing in the puddle of urine left by the previous occupant. But maybe that's just me. grin

Columbia999 Mon 04-Jul-11 14:15:36

That would put me off jumpsuits as well, MollysChamber. I don't like the stripping off aspect of them either, just to go for a wee. Jumpsuits, like puffed sleeves, should only be worn by people under six years old! grin

JohnniesBitch Mon 04-Jul-11 14:17:39

I think they look awful. even worse are those jumpsuits with shiired elastic at the top and strapless and then shirred elatic leg cuffs! purlease, you all look ridiculous in them regardless of your age/build/height. especially those over 35 who still like to think they look 20 something.

Columbia999 Mon 04-Jul-11 14:19:00

Bugger, I meant playsuits in my last sentence. Where's an edit button when you need one! blush

OTheHugeManatee Mon 04-Jul-11 14:30:39

I dimly remember having a playsuit type thing with dungaree straps when I was about 14. If you used a public loo you had to be very careful if you didn't want to clip yourself round the ear with a pair of cold, pissy straps.

YY to horrible leg cuffs too. And strapless jumpsuits??? What the actual jeffing jeff?

OTheHugeManatee Mon 04-Jul-11 14:32:14

Was just reminded of this gentlemen's edition from the 1970s.

I wonder if anyone was ever man enough to fill it? grin

recklesspixie Mon 04-Jul-11 14:37:15

I love playsuits. I have a few and always get complimented when I wear them. They suit my figure. Hate going to the loo tho!

Empusa Mon 04-Jul-11 14:39:32

I love playsuits (obviously not all of them, some of them are grim), but I have a couple and they really suit me. They are, in fact, about the only thing that does.

LadyWellian Mon 04-Jul-11 14:40:32

If you are too old to play, you are too old for a playsuit.

(And I mean actually play, so for me that's anyone over the age of about 14, when the self-consciousness kicks in.)

TragicallyHip Mon 04-Jul-11 14:46:51

I quite like playsuits and jumpsuits. Not everyone looks good in them tho and there are some hideous designs!

Awomancalledhorse Mon 04-Jul-11 14:48:32

They're awful. Really shapless, even on the most toned women it makes them look like they've got saggy arses.
Not a huge fan of those strapless summer dresses either.

BitOfFun Mon 04-Jul-11 14:49:28

<SCREAM> at that link grin "Quick as a flick of her tongue", hahaaaa.

schroeder Mon 04-Jul-11 14:55:42

EEEK he looks like my stepdad shock

Empusa Mon 04-Jul-11 15:09:49

Awomancalledhorse Not all of them. My one has a lovely cinched waist, and the shorts are a little bit A line. More like this

flipthefrog Mon 04-Jul-11 15:11:46

i love jumpsuits, nice one on la redoute atm, they are always too short on the body on me though and i end up with very bad camel toe grin

DuchessEm Mon 04-Jul-11 15:16:55

I think that they can look really nice on some people. You have to get a well cut one, though, or they can look a bit sack-like. I don't see why there is this hatred for them, though! If you don't like them, don't wear them! smile

OTheHugeManatee Mon 04-Jul-11 15:23:01

For me it's at least partly what flipthefrog said. I'm quite long in the body and most playsuit-type clothing giveth me the toe of the camel.

But generally they make even gorgeous, sylph-like women look as though they're wearing a cross between a babygro and their granny's curtains. It's just a bit wrong.

superjobeespecs Mon 04-Jul-11 15:24:45

saw a woman in her 30s trussed up like a 14 yr old in asdas yesterday in one of those long legged ones is that a jumpsuit? bloody awful.. and my OHs cousins GF is only 19 but for some reasom when she's all trussed up she looks about 40 they just dont suit anybody and as for the shorty ones they are wholly inapropriate over the age of 3 grin my DD had a couple when she was wee they were adorable but at 6 she is too big for them they are for babbys and toddlers only IMO

Hullygully Mon 04-Jul-11 15:25:24
