Tell me about GHD Straighteners

DH is buying me a pair of GHD straighteners as my uni graduation present, but we don't have a clue where to get them or what sort. Not sure whether it's better to get them online or in a local salon. We live in Glasgow, if anyone has bought a good pair locally. If not, can somewhere recommend somewhere online. Just very aware that it could be easy to end up buying a pair of fakes online. Thanks

Do beware of online. If in doubt buy from GHD's official website which is This one

They seem to have a promotion on at the moment.

You can trust QVC to sell genuine GHD's, though they don't necessarily have them all year round, but when they do its usually on a deal or at least on "Easy Pay" where you can spread the cost across 3 interest free if you pay with credit/debit card. They have none on there at the moment.

Failing that go to a salon as long as their price isn't more than GHD's website. The benefit of going to a salon is that if they break (they shouldn't) then you can take them back to the retailer for a refund or replacement (keep your receipt - seriously file it somewhere as these things should last you years). The benefit of buying online is that your "proof of purchase" is emailed to you and as long as you don't delete it you have it forever and can post them back easily enough if something goes wrong.

i got my latest pair from ghd online store and got two brushes free, the new gold plated ceramic ones.

however i brought www.boots.com/en/Mark-Hill-RAW-Zebra-Straight-Shine-Ceramic-Styler_999902/ these on a whim as were half price and they are better than my ghd's and less than half the price! they do do plain black ones as well although not sure they ar eon offer, but i'm prepared to overlook the zebra print for the price. I have th ematching hair dryer that was brought for me at christmas.

I'm sure I bought mine from Tesco online. That was in 2007 though. At the time I balked at paying £90 for hair staighteners but they are still going strong and worth every penny.
