Young skinnies or age-appropriate bootcuts?

I know you S&B gang are the fount of all wisdom, so I'm turning to you in my hour of sartorial need Grin

So, am 38 and occasionally get asked for ID when buying wine

However , I have big boobs, more apple than pear, and am about a size 12.

So, can I still get away with skinny jeans, or would dark bootcuts lend me an otherwise elusive air of sophistication? Or are they both a really bad idea, and should I be looking at comfy linen slacks instead?

Thanks S&Bers Smile

Either.
Boot cut will balance you upper half but I'm not sure boot cut are fashionable now- I woundn't wear them and I'm 50s!

Uniqlo skiiny/straight ish narrow leg for me.

Well I'm nearly 39 and wear skinnies or very narrow straight cut so they basically go down over my heels.

You need to try loads on and see which look best.

That's the dilemma: fashionable or flattering. Was in Top Shop earlier - wall to wall skinnies and boyfriends, not a bootcut in sight.

Very nice, and what a reduction!

Sadly I need to get some by the weekend, so online won't work, and can't really spend more than £50 just now. Think I might go back to Top Shop tomorrow...

GAP Real Straights see here.

Can one even purchase bootcut nowadays?

Same jeans as in Chippy's link but mine are not as dark as these. I tried to find the ones I bought on the website but failed. Maybe they're no longer available online. If you have a Gap near you it's worth a look. Some of the sale stock is 75% off. I might go back tomorrow for some of their jean leggings - really comfy but look like skinnies.

Chippy - one can purchase them. My last jeans were Lee Leolas (sorry, can't link on phone) and they were very flattering and lasted ages, until I ripped them falling over on my rollerskates the other day Blush
My friend sells them in her very nice shop and they're apparently still v popular. And its a fab shop with great clothes and a youngish clientele, honest!

Primark skinnies are fab-cross between a straight leg and a skinny so not too tight. Come in 3 lengths, short, reg, long I wear a size 14 and am an apple and look good in them!

They are £8.

at rollerskates. Proper boot ones? Or strap-ons (ooh err missus)?

YY the GAP ones are flattering.

Proper old skool booty ones with four wheels! I got them to accompany and encourage my not-very-active Dd, but I love it so much I've been taking them to work and whizzing along the seafront on my own in my lunch break.
Mid life crisis?

Envy at seafront rollering. Why buy a pink topless car when you can have a mid-life crisis on skates?

It's not about young vs age-appropriate, it's about what suits you.

(will go read thread now)

Flattering over fashion every time.

Gap "long & lean" are bootcutish, as are the ones they call "bootcut." I like the "curvy" ones, which are also pretty much a variant on bootcut.

Flattering over fashion for sure!

I just bought two pairs from levis in the denim curve ID range. The full boot cut was more like a flare (unless you were trying to get them over moon boots or something) and the skinny bc was perfect for flip-flops. Definitely not mum jeans.

Seriously, no one should be subjected to my thighs in skinnies.
