Summer hats - what to do?

I love hats, I do. In winter, it's a cashmere beenie, and I've even got a trilby for smart days. I wear a hat nearly every day.

But what do you wear in summer? I have a big floppy straw thing for the garden that makes me look like a vicar's wife, and a waxed cotton thing with a floral lining that makes me look like a dick. But it keeps the sun off.

Neither of these go with my summer clothes. I wear skinny jeans with All Saints t-shirts, or cropped jeans with tunics. None of the summer hats on the market go with my clothes. I've tried straw trilbies, cowboy style things...nothing works.

I'm ginger. I burn. I need a summer hat.

Please help!

Is your hair long or short? Do you have a fringe? What shape of face are you?

I burn like a mad thing, and swop between baseball caps (huge assortment), a leather Aussie hat, huge red rattan hat, and an unattractive but v practical bucket hat which scruches into my handbag and stays on when running

Short bob, with a fringe, roundish face. Look all right in a beanie, but can I find a summer style to suit me? Can I bog roll.

I just can't picture myself in a baseball cap.

I like those only the trilby would let the sun through (I too burn). I''m very interested to see what other ideas there are because I have this problem every year as well and I like to cover up all year round on those bad hair days (curly)

Unusually M&S has some great hats this summer:
leopard print scarf
with peak
cloche-style
very seventies
and lots more where they came from --

Thanks so much - but I don't really like any of those...I think it's because they're so feminine. Really pretty, but they don't really go with anything I wear.

The straw trilby is nice, but all the ones I've tried on seem to be too small

Summer is hard when you're not a girly type.

Another straw trilby here has just gone down in the sale. Fits me and I have a big head.
