Need some hair advice

Hi all,

New to mumsnet, love it already. Need some advice with my hair - I recently dyed it bleach blonde and cut it into a bob, something I've wanted to do for ages!!! But when I was at the tennis club the other day, my friends said that they're not sure it suits me...one of them even said it's a complete embarrassment and I really need to put a paper bag over my head!!! Obviously I don't want to walk around in public looking silly and I'm now thinking this may not have been a good idea - does anyone have any advice with what I can do with it to make it suit more? There's an important tennis match coming up with the ladies in 2 weeks so I really need it sorted by then. I'm hourglass in shape, about 5'5 and 8 stone. Even if I need to go and spend a fortune at the hairdressers in town, I'm willing to do so to sort out this dreaful mess! Got swimming tomorrow too, hopefully that'll help it somewhat but what would you guys suggest? Many thanks xxx

Hello Dear, I once had a similar problem, have you got a photo?

Why do you care?

What it is about the haircut YOU don't like?

Report
Delphiii · 22/06/2011 22:00

Well it all depends!
Do you look in the mirror and think "I'm disgusting, with this haircut I look like an elderly trout" or do you look and think "I look good, I like my hair so I will keep my hair"? If you like it, keep it!
If not, and itdoes look terrible, get it fixed

Personally I like it but I don't want other people looking down on me, and because my friends think it's terrible it makes me feel aged. Wouldn't want them to feel ashamed to be around me!! xx

Are you pregnant at the moment? Because that would limit your options for colour correction...

Ask for some lowlights. Bleach blonde looks shite when it's a flat colour on most people. If you've got cool colouring, try ashy ones, if you have a warmer complexion, honey and caramel shades can look nice. And get new friends. Anyone who tells you to put a bag on your head is a bitch. HTH

Thanks very much toddlerama, I'll think about what you've said and see what my hairdresser says, it sounds really good for my figure! And this particular one isn't really a friend, she's just a bitch who happens to get on with everyone else...I just tolerate her xx

What is your favourite Fanny Craddock recipe?

How odd that you AND Delphiii both joined Mumsnet today, and both have appeared only on the same three threads.

Soul mates, really, me thinks.

You have some very rude friends! I'd tell them to stuff it and find some new ones who appreciate your new figure-flattering blonde bob Smile

Yes that colour will definitely compliment your figure. As will a baby called Fanny.
