The "one that got away"?

Just wondering if anyone else has any S&B ones that got away? There are two things I really, really wish I'd bought when I saw them but didn't and then I never saw them again.

The first I would still buy if I saw it today. First sighted in a shoe shop in Cannes in May 2003 - a pair of green Dior sandals (more strap than shoe). They were from the "punk" range (I think they were Dior) and were just lovely. I didn't buy them. I still think, wistfully, of them...

The second I wouldn't buy now but it was "of its time". Dress shop in Paris, probably June 1987, a moss green satin strapless dress with a rah-rah skirt detail. I know but it was 1987 and I was 21 at the time. Grin

I honestly think if I'd bought it, I'd still have it albeit hidden with the pair of Levi jeans from the same period that I really wish I could get into again (I can at least get them over my hips again now but I doubt I'll ever get them done up and they used to be baggy).

Anyone else or am I odd?

No I tend to either buy it if I cant stop thinking about it, or get so excited about something else I forget

Pair of purple velvet knee-high DMs when I was 17. I still wish I'd had the guts to buy them.

Nothing I forgot to buy, but I wish I hadn't binned the Alberta Ferreti trousers I wore once, instead of ebaying them.
Ditto the Versace jeans, Katherine Hamnet shirt and countless other designer items.

Cybil - I now have the "can't stop thinking about it" rule. If I'm still thinking about something after leaving the shop for half an hour (or more) I go back and get it or find it online. Conversely, if I'm not still thinking about something I don't buy it. Doesn't apply when I'm immediately sure, of course.

Predictable - I think you may have much better taste than me!

I wish I had bought a pair of soft tan hand made leather cowboy boots in Colorado. They were beautiful, but expensive and i thought I might go off them. 5 years later and I still want them.

Gucci messenger satchel when I lived in tokyo, saw it most days in ISETAN the dept store and although it was a bit out of my price range, i could have bought it as being child/mortgage free. God i wish I had that bag.
