I need a dress for a wedding, was thinking maybe maxi?

I need some advice. I am going to 2 weddings this year. One in 4 weeks time and another in September. I need to find an outfit/dress preferably to wear to both although not essential. I was thinking maybe a Maxi dress and have tried this on. It fitted over my biggish boobs and hides my tummy (I am a 14-16), but I'm not sure. What would I wear with it, is it weddingy enough? Could do with some S&B advice smile

The cut is very nice but I'm not keen on the pattern.

What colours do you like/suit?

kittywalker Tue 21-Jun-11 17:22:49

I tend to go for blue. I have a lot of blue! I have fair hair and a fair complexion. I also tried this one on which my friend preferred on me at the time but I wasn't so sure.

I think the Phase Eight one is nicer. The first one is very summery (and a bit loud - sorry). You could wear the second one to the September wedding too as it's more season-neutral.

I'm afraid I really don't like that first dress, the phase eight one is better but a bit dull. TBH underwear makes or breaks any outfit, investing in spanx and a good bra is well worth it, even if you then have less to spend on the dress its self.

Some blue maxis to be going on with

this is pretty much a mix of the two, but it's strapless so maybe no good

I love this but maybe not your style

I bet this would look great on, very elegant

How tall are you, I'm 5'4" and maxis are no good on me at all.

kittywalker Tue 21-Jun-11 22:10:45

I'm 5'6 and a bit!

HettyAmaretti Tue 21-Jun-11 22:12:14

Mmm. A tailoring is hard to beat on well supported curves, I think.

bet this would be beautiful on your colourign

louder and with blue

teal shift Too deep/bright?

blue satin

No good for a summer wedding but a classic and what a bargain

Did I link to this blue maxi already, or is this just VERY similar?

I quite like the first one in your last list hetti, just a bit conscious of my tummy, blush

kittywalker Tue 21-Jun-11 22:21:28

Sorry spelt your name wrong Hetty

BulletWithAName Tue 21-Jun-11 22:22:56

Love your last link Hetty, I agree it's very elegant.

Here's a couple I've found

Grecian Style, would look great with gold or silver accessories/shoes

Gorgeous colour, turquoise though

Love the shoulder detailing on this one

Very pretty embellishment at the bust

Hope that helps a little bit!

One word:

Spanx

I wore this in navy rose to a wedding at the weekend I too am a size 14/16 and 5'6.

It felt amazing, really flattering round the tummy and will def wear again.

kittywalker Tue 21-Jun-11 22:26:37

Ooh Bullet quite like the grecian one! Thanks ladies smile

kittywalker Tue 21-Jun-11 22:27:24

Did you wear a bra boobelina?

HettyAmaretti Tue 21-Jun-11 22:33:38

navy

Which first one of mine? THe leafy sleeveless maxi or the pink shift.

Grecian is quite nice

HettyAmaretti Tue 21-Jun-11 22:39:11

Oh, you said already. The pink one, ah, I've gone right off that blush. Had the laptop scree at an odd angle and thought the print was much subtler than it is. Another soft pink shift would be good. Will have a quick look befor e bed.

Of the maxis I still prefer the coast one.

boobellina Tue 21-Jun-11 22:49:14

nope - but got a bit of a sore neck from the knot in the halter neck so may be worth it if like I appear to you have heavy knorks!

HettyAmaretti Tue 21-Jun-11 22:55:37

Oooh, red shift? ultimate tummy camouflage or add to bulk?

big blue and white flowers - shift

I'm not having much luck
