Relating to a similar thread - but am asking for specifics.... if you are a larger lady (14+) and have recently found something summery & really flattering, would you mind seeing if there is an online link & posting please? I have tried on so much stuff ojust to find it looks crap if you are larger than a size 12 (possibly not helped by being average height)... know am not the only one interested in this. Thanks.

I am a 14 and wouldn't consider myself, relatively speaking, a larger lady BUT an finding this year's summer clothes really unflattering unless you are slim or tall. So really just asking people what summer clothes they have bought, which are still available, and look nice as I have had too many unsuccessful shopping trips recently which are making me feel bad about myself

what shape are you? 14 arse or 14 top? or belly?

I am a 14 all over and 5 ft 9. At the moment I love JBrand Major jeans, Reiss, Anglomania, and Zara shoes.

Some of the stuff in the shops at the moment looks awful no matter what size you are IMO.

I think you are right, it is about proportions

I'm a 14 and have realised recently that 'bubble hem' tops are v flattering on me - no horrid stomach clingyness. There's some in Next for £10, I've got the purple one which looks fab with jeans and it comes in white (but v see through, I sent it back) and a few other colours.

I just bought this as an impulse buy and wore it today, it looked really nice with a long boyfriend cardi & skinny jeans. Really cheap too!

Next tops they look awful on the site, much better on.

I've bought 'boxy' style tee shirt tops from H and M and worn with slimmish rolled up trews and wedges

Also batwing blousey bright bold tops from primark which look good with skinnies as they balance you out, in purple and emerald green

cybbo, do you have a small waist? I really like the look of the boxy tshirts, and the cropped and tie front ones (over a longer vest) but I'd worry that they'd cut me off at the waist too much and make me look wider as I have wide hips...

Yes i do ahve a small waist but as they are boxy it doesnt show any way

I reckon cos they are loose makes me look slimmer!

But if your trousers were not too clingy I reckon you'd be fine

Show off slim wrists and ankles....

Great plains dresses are well cut for curvy people

Yeah I see what you mean. Kind of like the tunic style tops that were in a couple of years ago, they covered a multitude of sins!

MrsMeow - thanks for those links, I'm a 14, 5'9, and have a bit of a jelly belly - no matter what jeans I'm wearing I always seems to be wobbling in that area - I think those tops may be just what I need.

I'm not really a 'shopping' person, so this thread will be my eyes and ears on the high street Grin

Thanks

I really like that and am off to H&M tomorrow, will definitely try it on. It looks quite sheer - do you wear a vest underneath it?

VelvetSnow - no probs :) I'm 5'5 and have a tiny (length wise) torso so any extra weight is put on my stomach! Apart from high cut jeans which make me feel like I'm suffocating, I get a muffin top from any others so those bubble hem tops are really forgiving as they don't cling. They look good with a longline cardi over - New Look do them for about £12 at the minute in stretchy tshirt material and they look really slimming over one of those tops.

Libra - thanks for that, I have one (although from George) and sometimes I feel it rides up my torso to reveal the muffin!

The M&S ones look a little longer though so will give it a try.
