My skin has never been that great, teenage acne then not to bad when on the pill (dianette). Great when I was pg and breastfeeding but has been awful since. It all seems to be hormone related, hormones have all over the place in the last 6 years lots of mc and fertility treatment. Currently on lymocline an antibiotic which does help but still get horrid spots about a week and half before my period. I take vit b6 which does help and my periods are regulary etc. Have scarring and always seem to have the odd spot, my skin is oily and I have large pores. Really fed up with it as I am almost 32. Could go back on the pill until next year when we have some more fertility treatment, but feel like I would just be masking the problem. Any one got any skin care tips or tips to sort out my hormones. Thanks.

I have the same problem as you. When I came off the pill last year it was particularly bad - terribyl cystic acne on my neck and jawline. This year, I shelled out for N-Lite treatment, although what I think may have been just as effective is the Jan Marini cleanser/salicylic acid treatment/restoring serum that they prescribe alongside it. Not cheap, but it's made a huge difference for me.

2 x Floresse capsules (starflower oil) per day have made a big difference to me. They are one a day but I always take two. You get them in Boots. Also a dab of benzoyl peroxide on the greasy areas (from any chemist) and I have started using primer on my face as it improves the greasy/large pored thing I've got going on.

There was a phone in on adult acne on Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show on Tuesday this week around 1pm. Check on BBCiplayer. May have some new treatments you have not tried.

cedar12, I feel your pain. Wouldn't dream of leaving the house without makeup, even to pop a letter in the box outside, as my skin is so red still from acne scars. I'd love to be one of those people who can just slap on some tinted moisturizer and be done with it!

Everything I've used (mentioned above) came from the Jan Marini line. The Transformation serum is great - helps to even tone as well as heal inflamed areas.

I tried benzoyl peroxide several months ago, but it was far too harsh on my skin (as my worst breakouts were on my neck, the bp brought me out in a terrible rash where the skin was most sensitive). Also, it stains your clothes/bed linen something chronic. Not worth it, in my case.

I think I might have to treat myself to the serum. Will have a look online. Got the star flower oil so hopefully might make a bit of a difference.
