Interview Help - tights etc???

Hello I am going for an internal post for which i am 99.99 recurring sure i'd get an interview for - my plan is to wear a black jersey shift/pont(?!) type dress knee length and a cropped black and white tweed jacket (no buttons hard to describe) What on earth do I wear on my feet I usually wear ballet pumps... and should I wear tights seeing as it will be summer. I was also planning to wear my pearl earrings (v simple) and a y drop pearl & chrystal necklace (for luck really).

I am known for my leggings and dress style at work but would leggings be too informal under the dress - also feel the need to inject some colour in to the outfit as its all a bit boring - fuschia ballet pumps??? The job is as a Research Administrator at a Uni if that helps . I will also have a train commute on the day.

I think im just really lacking confidence as my last interview was internal within my own department sideways move - I didnt get it :-( I have been in the same job for the last 8 years - I want to feel comfortable and like myself.

Oh and one last thing - I have a Mumsnet haircut with side swept fringe usually wear a low side pony - or shoudl I wear it straight and ghd'd to an inch of its life (when i feel most confident )

Yours in wibbly wobbly nervousness x

Definatly no leggings under your dress & I would steer away from flats with a dress. You could commute in flats & then change before going into work.

I think the outfit sounds nice but with different shoes.

Good luck!

that means tights doesn't it :-( - I have suitable (boring) shoes I can wear black suede , block heals round toes. I am mixed race so can't really wear flesh coloured tights - I really fancy a pair of those sheer tights with little dots on them would that be ok??

NO, the tights with dots will not be ok. Sorry.

I'm relieved you're no longer considering leggings.

For an interview, you really need to put an outfit together which you feel is formal enough, and then turn it up a notch. Make it more formal.

I would wear bare legs and red kitten heels like this

You don't have to wear tights with heels, you can buy little heel protectors from boots to stop your shoes rubbing.

I wouldn't try to bling your outfit with spotty tights!! tethers shoes are really nice & you could match the shoes with your lipstick.

Kitten heels = good maybe a different colour though - I do love red but I never wear it with black/ white (a bit too corporate for me) , still unsure about the bare legs bit really though especially as my knees are quite dark ( mixed race thing).

Re: Kitten heels are we saying that colour is ok ? ( this is the bit where I am veering towards Fuschia again)

No to leggings! Yes to tights, and the hairstyle you feel most comforatbale with. I would not worry about making a statement with your clothes - just shoes you can walk in, not totally flat with a dress, kitten heels you can walk in souds good, and a big bright, confident, happy smile!!!
Best of luck!!!!

yy, go for the red- if your usual style is quite casual and you feel something is a little 'too corporate', then chances are it's perfect for the interview IYSWIM.

Having said that, I think the coral shoes would also work with darker skin.

Good luck- let me know how you get on Smile
