The theme is black and white (sigh) and starts at 4pm. It is going to be a garden party with marquee. I am short and fat (sigh) so there are a few certain no nos!

Help please?

Don't call yourself fatty. You are worth more than that.

Right, forget size for the moment, what colouring are you, what are your best features, what sort of budget are we talking?

Blush

I am size 20, about 5"3 i think, HATE my thighs so no short skirts! Big boobs, on the apple side, though i used to have a waist! V sticky out stomach.

My ear lobes are quite nice .......Smile and I am not horrendous looking.

I am fair haired (highlighted), hair is shoulder length, tan easily but have awful t shirt sleeve tan marks on my arms because I am out and about during working hours.

What I definitely CANNOT wear are minis or maxi, jumpsuits wa ha ha ha ha, skinny jeans... you get the gist of it?

I would love a nice dress, but perhaps trousers and a top may be more practical.

My buget is limited - I would be very reluctant to spend more than £60 on a dress / trousers and top. i might be prepared to spend more on shoes because black sandals are a bit of a staple, aren't they?

thank you.... apologies for typos and grammar: I am sitting on the couch watch crap tv while mnetting on my teeny notebook.

I've tried on the Principles dress that FoundWanting linked to. It's nice - very Adele-looking. I immediately thought of it when I read the OP.

Smeared, I love love love those dresses but I fear that there may be a rather scary overflow at the top of the back of the dress. If I were a size 16 or therabouts I would love one of those.
