Bobbi Brown - what to buy?

JosieRosie · 03/06/2011 14:43

I have a gift voucher for House of Fraser with £32 left on it. I was going to spend it wisely on kitchen stuff but have decided to ditch that idea and buy some slap!
I have heard lots of you rave about Bobbi Brown products and have decided that I'm definitely buying the tinted moisturiser, but would like to buy one more product too. What would you recommend? Feel free to tell me specific colours and stuff. I have a fair, rosy complexion, clear skin so not bothered about concealer, blue eyes and dark, chestnut-red hair
Thanks!

If you wear eyeliner, their gel eyeliner is great and long lasting.
Also the cream eyeshadows are brilliant for lasting power.
My friend raves about the lipsticks as well .
I would go and have a play at the counter.

I have that blusher , looks great on but I find it disappears too quickly.

ggirl, make up used to fall straight off my face until I started using bare escentuals (sp??) mineral foundation - now everything stays put, even this new blusher!

I used to only be able to use benetint, which is impossible to remove to avoid looking dead/pasty by lunchtime!

Blimey, you lot are quick! I do wear eye liner but I apply using a pencil and then smudge to get a 'shadowy' look coz I'm not a fan of harsh lines. Can I do that with BB gel eyeliner?

I love her shimmer brick and it lasts ages. Think there are 3 or 4 colour choices. Since having a baby and having no time for much make up in the mornings, I have found a quick swish of this on my cheeks and I look more human again! Enjoy choosing - how exciting!

I'd tell them what kind of look you like, and get them to slap some slap on you. then you ca see what you really like, and what you're not that faffed about.

I love it all, really I do. Whenever I list (on MN) things I like, could not be without etc etc, I default to Bobbi.

  • The luminous moisturizing foundation is the best there is - but obv no good for you if you don't need it!
  • They have just re-formulated their tinted moisturisers - there are 2, one is oil free and one is not. You only need the oil-free one if you have oily skin. I have just bought it (with oil!), and love it, but the coverage is very light, FYI.
  • Agree with everyone above that the gel eyeliners are things of wonder. They can be smudged if you do it immediately after application. Otherwise, they will stay on for 36 hours ish! But if you prefer a more shadowy look, ask the ladies, they can show you other tricks and products, eg using a pencil, or an eyeshadow.
  • The lipsticks and lip glosses are fab too. They're especially good if you're looking for something natural - like your lip but more intense.
  • The creme eyeshadows are fab too...
  • As are the blushers, both powder and cream. Actually, if you don't wear blush, using one can make the most (but subtle) difference to your look.

Look, it is all fab. The shimmer bricks and the bronzers too. Even if you don't normally like bronzer on you, there will be one that is right for you there, and makes you look imperceptibly more healthy rather than looking like you've been at the bronzer...

Only thing I'd steer clear of is mascara. You'll find better elsewhere.

Foundation definitely, is the best I've ever used (and I've tried a lot!!)

YY to gel eyeliner.

Shimmer brick is ace too. I have the Bronze one which I use as a bronzer (funnily enough) and then use the individual stripes of colour as eyeshadows. V good value product.

The tinted moisturiser isn't as good as the Laura Mercier one IME.

Tinted moisturizer is shit. Any brand. Big marketing con.

I had a shimmer brick. Hated. Was sparkly and bad

Shimmer brick in beige is great for giving you a sort of candlelit glow.

The make up brushes are really really good too.

Found the foundation too sticky for me.

Lip gloss is a bit jammy too.
