So has anyone had a Brazilian blow-dry?

I am contemplating trying this out as I have permanently frizzy, naturally curly but not cute curly hair. Is it worth the 150 quid? I am worried it will make my hair flat and lifeless?

It won't, I've had this twice. I have very curly, frizzy, dry, never looks shiny, jumps up tight kinda hair. It won't straighten your hair, what it will do is get rid of the frizz, make it much easier to style and allow you to do dayyyys without washing. Other people didn't notice anything drastict but I felt a big difference.

I've had one (Global Keratin) - would agree with Fuctifano. My hair is naturally fine and soft but it hasn't made it flat. I like it but I wouldn't pay £150! Get on Groupon and you'll find one for less than half that ;)

No, it doesn't but it might seem flatter if you're used to big frizzy hair. No-one has really noticed but it now only takes me 4 minutes to dry my long hair and for it to look groomed.

Also during wet or hot weather I don't have to worry about it frizzing up.

It has made a huge difference to my hair and how I feel about it so I'll be having it done again.

Hmmmmmmmm sounds great! Are there any bad points at all? Apart from the price?

Thanks pookamoo! But now I'm confused, I thought it wasn't supposed to straighten curls, just defrizz?

Formaldehyde

it smooths your hair and reduces curls and waves. If I leave my hair to dry naturally it has very gentle waves, if I blow dry it goes straight without having to use a brush.

The one that I had was a new version which was formaldehyde free and didn't require waiting 3-4 days before washing/tying back etc.

Thanks Betty! Would you say your hair is less voluminous than before? This is my only worry, as I have fine hair but lots of it, and when I use GHDs it usually sticks to my head and makes my face look fat lol

Well I was going to have this done but the down sides are the chemicals like formaldehyde in it are carcinogenic although some places do formaldehyde free but they are more expensive.

Also it only lasts abut 3 months so will cost a fortune to have done 4 times a year.

I have heard bad things about the groupon ones offered too. I decided against it in the end.

The first couple of days after I did think it looked flat but after I wash it, I dry it upside down (which takes less than 5 mins) and it has a bit of body in it.

Previously when I straightened it I didn't straighten my roots as it went too flat.

It is quite a labour intensive process and mine took over 3 hrs to do so I would be wary of anyone offering it really cheaply.
