I need a new dress for work - office based and quite conservative. I'm 5'10, size 16/18, nothing shorter than just above knee and NOT grey or black. It just seems so hard to find something!!!! Please please please point me in the right direction!

I bought a fab dress in Asda for work at the weekend. It was only £16 Shock

It's really flattering. Will try to find a link....

I got a dress in Asda ages ago and have worn it to death - hence needing a new non-grey one!

How about navy? I got a nice navy number in Bennetton recently. Can't link because I don't think they've got a website but it's just a simple navy shift dress - very flattering.

Or how about something like the everyday shift dress in a bright colour or the silk ruched dress?

It's the circle print tea dress on their website. My one comes just below my knees. Washed it tonight. Hung it over the radiator and it dried in 20 minutes. The material is comfortable and light. I have had loads of "ooh, where did you get that dress?" Grin

Of course I say Hobbs!

And of course Hobbs do have fab dresses. I have bought a few. They're more pricey but I get my money's worth.

Can I hijack slightly to ask how Hobbs comes up on length? I've always had the impression that they were better for taller ladies (such as the lucky OP!). Is this correct?

Sorry for hijack OP - I would love to find the same as you, similar environment, similar colour avoidance, completely opposite end of hte height spectrum!

I'm 5 2". Most of my Hobbs dresses sit just below the knee. I tend to by shift type dresses. Fwiw I really love Hobbs. It's well worth waiting till they have a sale or visitnv their outlet section on their website. Smile

Hobbs deffo better for tall ladies (ie not me!) but their NW3 stuff tends to be shorter. Their normal line is way too long for me (5'2).

But deffo worth a look on their outlet bit as they sometimes have v good deals.

I've got this in beige and black (I know you said not black) and it's really comfortable. Works well with a jacket or a cardi. I also have this dress from Next which is a bit different as it's not the usual shift shape.

Thanks ladies. At 5'0 both you of you are still "tall" to me Grin

I am similar size and shape to OP I think (5'11, 16). Hobbs OK, but sometimes dresses can be a bit short in the body. I also have some Fenn Wright Manson dresses for work.

Isabella Oliver 365 (the non maternity stuff) is pretty good for taller people.
I'm 5ft 9ins and hate showing my legs. It's mostly jersey stuff - could you wear a wrap dress for work? The essential pencil skirt is lovely and long. They have offers on if you sign up for the newsletter - I got 44% off the skirt a while ago.

Laura Ashley have some longer length dresses at the moment. I was looking for something for a christening today so too flowery but pretty sure they have more work appropriate stuff? They've just had a 25% off weekend but the next one can't be far away.

How about this one - black jersey shift in the sale and there is an 18?
