GORGEOUS!!! I want one! Any special occassion?

Olivetti Tue 31-May-11 12:18:58

Lovely. Very sophisticated.

coffeenut Tue 31-May-11 12:23:04

Thanks. It's for an engagement party. I'm a bit worried the shoulders will date it in 12 months time. What do you think?

pink4ever Tue 31-May-11 12:36:24

Looks better suited to a funeral than engagement party to me. Too formal.

Jajas Tue 31-May-11 12:38:28

Ooh lord, far too dark and stiff looking for an engagement. Look like widows weeds to me - sorry.

iWILLdothis Tue 31-May-11 12:39:28

use fun accessories for engagement party....you could wear that to a million potential occassions! smile

ggirl Tue 31-May-11 12:40:54

dull

iWILLdothis Tue 31-May-11 12:45:43

how about the grey one instead?

BulletWithAName Tue 31-May-11 12:54:07

It's really boring and overpriced for what it is. Sorry!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie Tue 31-May-11 16:12:27

Not fond - very severe looking and a funny length. I think you could get something much better. How old are you? It looks quite 'middle aged' (says the 41 year old!).

alizee Tue 31-May-11 23:43:16

i find it more appropriate for a/w tbh - being wool and long sleeved. it also seems quite see-through and expensive for what it is.

Cafefrappe Tue 31-May-11 23:47:54

It's a bit nanny McPhee - sorry x

Gerrof Tue 31-May-11 23:50:38

I think it is very meh. I don't think I would wear a wool dress to a party tbh. Would be something I would wear to work.

ninah Tue 31-May-11 23:52:31

I really like it, but agree it's quite a sober dress

WhatsWrongWithYou Wed 01-Jun-11 00:08:46

I saw it and thought 'hmm, okay if you work in a very formal environment.' Not what I'd wear to a party.

coffeenut Wed 01-Jun-11 10:44:13

Thanks for the feedback.

The quality and cut are quite nice, I don't think it is over-priced.

I should have said that it is winter where I live. i wouldn't wear it to a summer or spring party.

It wouldn't be formal enough for work (I work in a corporate environment). But looks like the verdict is that it isn't "partyish" enough.

I do need something long sleeved and elegant though. will keep searching.

WhatsWrongWithYou Wed 01-Jun-11 11:55:12

Something like this maybe?
I would have said look at Vivienne Westwood or All Saints but their stuff all seems to be short-sleeved atm.

WWWY i love that Isabella oliver dress, thank you!! I actually love the ruched one too - might be a bit dresser for a party, what do you think? I wonder how long it is though. Wish they had it on the blue too.

WhatsWrongWithYou Sat 04-Jun-11 09:39:50

They are lovely, aren't they? I don't have either myself, but I'm sure some posters on the 'avid & wise' threads are fans.

They're really amenable and helpful, so you could maybe swoop in and ask?

FaffTastic Sat 04-Jun-11 18:35:43

Lovely dress but definitely not 'engagement party-ish' IMO. What would you intend on wearing with it?

smearedinfood Sat 04-Jun-11 21:51:41

it's a bit boring sorry

coffeenut Sun 05-Jun-11 03:37:05

the isabella oliver one is boring/not engagement party or the original one?

TheMostBeautifulPoster Sun 05-Jun-11 05:07:43

Both are like work dresses. The black one in particular
I hate isabella thingy. So du
