i NEED to tell you all about Crest whitestrips!

ok, i read about these a while ago on here and whilst in america recently i decided to invest in some. my teeth are pretty straight and nice but not as white as i would like. i have always wanted them whiter. so i bought the super strength top of the range ones that are meant to work in 2 hours (think they are called 3d or something) i got a years supply for about $50 (about 35 quid) from walmart, there are four sets of 2 strips (one for top teeth and one for bottom teeth) you are meant to use them once every 3 months.

anyway i used the first ones yesterday and i have to say i am amazed by the results, i thought at best they would lift my teeth by maybe a shade, but they are SEVERAL shades noticeably whiter. i keep looking in mirrors and smiling at myself like a loon

i don't think you can buy them over here other than on ebay. but i just wanted to tell you all they are WELL worth it, if i run out before i get to go to the states again i will happily get ripped off on ebay for some more!!

Do you think my 13 year old is too young to use these? She HATES her teeth which (dentist says) are naturally quite yellow. Reluctant to do the whole proper tooth whitening at her age, but is it OK for her to use them?

I bought these (not sure which strength), but they hurt me after just one use < stupidly sensitive teeth >, so I had to give up. Glad to hear they work, though - might give them to DH.

thats a bargain oldlady about what they cost in america. i thought they would be way more expensive.

to the poster who asks if they would be ok for her 13 yo dd, i would imagine they would be fine as she has adult teeth, it didn't have any age limits on the packaging. but maybe check with your dentist just to be on the safe side.

whatswrongwithyou yeah my teeth were quite achey for a couple of hours afterwards. but nothing too painful and they are fine today.

No question Whitestrips work, even tho not that pleasant to use... they make you produce a lot of saliva..
But dammit they were sore last time I used them... ouch :(

I got the normal Crest whitening strips while on holiday in the USA last year and they made bog all difference to my teeth. I'd be interested to see if these do. Maybe my teeth are just too yellow

I think the reason they are not available here is that the amount of bleach (or whatever it is called that actually whitens the teeth) is much higher than the EU will allow in any european products. Same that whitening toothpastes here are mush less effective as US ones. I think there are questions over the potential long term damage to enamel, but willing to be corrected.
Thanks for this thread though, am just about to have my lower braces removed so will definately invest in these, DP has used the lower strength ones before and liked them but his teeth were quite sensitive, these sound great!

I don't think they are too good for your teeth tbh, which is why they don't get sold here. But....... Theramed 2 in 1 toothpaste (whitening which is the white one). 99p at most shops, been using it for about a month and have told all my friends... results are quite phenomenal. I have to have three monthly scale and polishes due to pitted teeth, which stain badly ( I don't smoke or drink red wine either). However, I thought I would give this a go I have previously used Blanx at seven quid a time, my teeth are really white and no stains at all!!! Definitely worth a go.

Nothing, but nothing beats the dentist done trays with syringes of bleach (you can go low or high, as advised by your dentist) and they cost about 200 quid - but last forever, except the bleach syringes, which you can get on eBay.

So while more expensive than Crest Strips (which I've used but don't get between the teeth so well) in the short term, you are getting proper advice from the dentist who can assess your gums and tooth porosity and give you a realistic outcome for how white you can go.

Oh, and I avoid teeth bleaching while pregnant and in the first 6-9 months of b/feeding.

I'm the same, Lynette. In fact, I'm waiting for my trays to come back from Whiterthanwhite - they sold me a re-mineralising gel which they reckon helps with the sensitivity, so we'll see if that works.

I had dentist whitening done years ago with the trays etc. It was AGONY for me. I don't understand how anyone can tolerate it. I ended up holding water in my mouth because the feeling of air on my teeth was excrutiating.

Anyone know...does laser whitening hurt?

anyfule - that's a shame. Basically you may not be a good candidate then. Maybe you were given too strong a bleach or left it on too long or allowed too much contact

The problem with one-off laser whitening (I had it done as well) is that it leaves your teeth porous for a while (and how long is hard to say) so you have to lay off anything that might sink in (tea, coffee etc) and even darken them.

Friend of mine had it done and drank tea normally a few days after and had darker teeth than when she started.

The thing with trays is that they are reuseable and targetable and you can control the outcome a bit more.

I recentley had my trays done and bleach syrnges at the dentist £300 later and 3 weeks after doing it 8 times overnight (only 10%) and I am thrilled with the results even more so that I can use them again and again to top up :) had a slight sensitivity but its gone now and my teeth are alot better :) cannot reccomend enough I was going to get whitestrips but I was too worried about damaging my teeth and gums so decided to ask my dentist still have another syringe to go before I am back for my review
