Not really Asda, but it was the only 'A' place I could think of near me.

The last two options left to me today are Next, Bloody Next people!!! and M&S big store in London Colney. (I looked in High Street M&S and, just. Lord.)

I need an ensemble that is super cheap for a date which is probably going to have moved on to clothes removal stage. It's tomorrow so might be warm, but I am a cold person (obv. Royal) so will need a jacket/cute sweater or something to go with whatever dress/top, etc.

I have tried on loads of Maxi dresses and the only one I like is this: looks better in RL

I have one in my wardrobe which is nice at the front but my bum is bigger since I bought and looks bad at the back now but in principle I like it. It's black Jersey, sleeveless and quite drapey.

We'll be going out for quick drinks at a quiet bar/pub, then back home for dinner and wine so I think Maxi is going to look weird in a pub in the evening...???

My underwear is going to have to be all in one/basque so I don't have to flop belly out, which I also think might be weird under a maxi...??

I am short, feel fat, am size 12 because I've only eaten Ryvita for last two weeks. I feel a bit body confident as a result but still fat iyswim.

Tummy awful, boobs okay but not pert...petite frame, short body...long legs for height (5'2")

Help!

PS the request is for a dress or top/tres/skirt combo that is suitable for eve in pub, drinks at home/sofa curling-up-on, shagging in and looks good on a fat short person with no body to speak of.

Oh I also have a varicose vein on calf that is hideous

I can't believe you have had no replies to this, hobb, and I'm sorry I'm only just reading it now.

Personally I wouldn't buy a summery maxi to wear down the pub of an evening in April unless it was a phenomenally posh pub (maybe by the riverside ...). ... Beautiful though that particular maxi is, and maybe you should get it anyway.

If things have progressed as well as you reckon, and you are looking forward to a bit of hanky-panky, I am wondering if you really need to buy a new outfit at all. Will you not be more comfy in an "old favourite"?

But anyway, something that looks like you're not trying too hard.

You don't say how old you are or your preferred colours, and I am looking through my (mid-forties) specs, but howabout

M&S?

Have you been to the Galleria - there is French Connection, Gap etc at outlet prices. You never know what you might find. There is a lot of tat in there but you never know what you might find.

I think that maxi with a denim jacket or your black one with a denim jacket would be fine for the pub. Have fun!

I wore a black jersey maxi with a cropped, pale denim jacket (3/4 length sleeves) with silver flip flops and silver jewellery and a black cross body bag down the pub t'other night. Did not look or feel out of place. Got complimented. Go for it.
