is shit, isn't it?

Does anyone ever find anything on there worth buying? Just reams and reams and reams of samey shit as far as I can tell. And the advance search functions are not specific enough so if there is anything good on ther you are likely to miss it amongst all the shit.

Their kids clothes were good and they seem to have stopped doing them.

And they do some good cheap shoes from time to time.

Actually, I really like them, sorry Grin

Jersey tops - ASOS own brand. Fantastic. A million times better than any pricey designer ones - and good quality too

Report
faustina · 13/03/2011 12:13

ALSO - they're always doing free next day postage, and returns are free, and they're very quick to refund

I second the jersey tops!!
Also, I tend to look on there for inspiration and then go elsewhere to buy.

But whenever I type in 'dresses' no matter what kind of dress I ask for whether it's evening, party, casual, whatever, I get pages and pages of horrid poorly designed tat.

I rest my case

whta is this? An ice skating outfit?

Albanian Prostitute?

words fail me

Nope. I'm sorry. I'm right, you're all wrong.

I never see anything on ASOS (and I LOVE clothes) and there's too bloomin' much! Search for dresses and there are currently 1274!

i call it " as seen on sluts" tbh
you are too old FN

faustina · 13/03/2011 15:14

well couldn't you narrow down your search? Look at brands you like for instance. that would cut the really shit ones out

I am too old? TOO OLD? How very dare you. I'll have you know I'm barely halfway through my current life expectancy.

Who is she, this withagoat whippersnapper? Who let her in? Angry

The problem is, I don't know what brands to cut out. I like a few things from a lot of brands and my shopping tends to be random browsing. But how can you browse through over 1200 dresses? Then I worry I've missed something (that I'm probably not going to buy anyway).

I remember when it first started, it really was 'as seen on screen' and there was a photo of the corresponding celeb wearing whatever it was. Not it's just an outlet for tarty tat. Which would be an interesting and useful 'filter' option.

Rant over.

Oops - now not 'not'

Thank you celtic - my point exactly.

In fact it's like the cyber version of the TK Maxx experience. The words needle and haystack spring to mind.

But you can buy decent brands there like reiss/whistles etc and often with a discount that you do get on the individual retailers own sites.

And they do the videos so you can actually see what an item looks like properly when on.

I just got some good sanita clogs for half-price from there too.

I guess I tend to use it for searching for a specific brand/item though.

But mrs campbell, can you really see what you would look like wearing it? Or the six foot stick insect version? Though i too like it for brands of shoe. Love sanita. And nxt day delivery for nearly forgotten bdays is excellent.

But to answer the op, there is a lot of shite and the asos own brand is poor quality

It's ok if you know EXACTLY what you're looking for, but the majority of it is slutty-looking shite.

I like asos but agree that it is a slog to find the gems amongst the dross.

Cokezone are doing £5 off a £20 spend at the moment which at least cuts out the delivery charge.

TheBolter · 13/03/2011 21:14

Delivery's free foundwanting.

I would much rather see a model wearing an item in a video than an item on a white background.

You can see how something hangs and also if it doesn't flatter the model then its unlikely to flatter me.

i've brought some nice dresses from asos, and thier peaches shoes are fab for office wear, comfy to wear all day and great price.

However i'm looking in the lard ass section of clothing and seeing my size 20 dress modelled on a size 14!!!!

The kids stuff is hiding in the maternity section Wink

i like ASOS but have to say their own brand is dubious quality. Good for me, though who can only buy cheap n cheerful but can't get to shops. And love free next day delivery. just did a big order and sent most of it back.

Remember when it was my secret website though for unusual buys.

As Seen On Screen was 'inspired by' outfits on slebs ie. knock-offs.

I find ASOS a lot like TK Maxx, you have to root through the masses of shaite to find the good stuff. Takes some hardcore browsing though.

Love their cosmetics and their accessories are pretty funky too (some of it!).
