so is there anything in partic i do now?

sorry, i know its probably been done before but couldn't trawl through all the old UGG messages to find out!

i've put them on an extra spin, stuffed them with newspaper and put them in the boiler cupboard to dry.

is that right?? thanks smile

OhCobblers Thu 13-Jan-11 21:45:48

just checking?!

DastardlyandSmugly Thu 13-Jan-11 21:58:17

No idea but an interested bump

unless they are actually slippers are you hoping that they will be ruined thus forcing you to buy attractive footwear?

OhCobblers Thu 13-Jan-11 22:38:52

i know i know smile but the important thing is that my feet are always warm!!!

so, no helpful/useful comments then? grin

yes thats right..newspaper stuffed in tight to keep shape..I always vanish my toes first as they have a tide mark from the rain.

FrameyMcFrame Fri 14-Jan-11 18:41:41

Yes that's fine, I did mine last year and they came out well.

OhCobblers Fri 14-Jan-11 18:59:40

thanks for replies. wish i'd vanished the toe bits too as you can still see the tide mark!

they're dry now and looking so much better but the outer is not as soft - is that a result of washing or will wearing them a bit help loosen them up?

also, while i'm boring you all with my UGG dilemma grin it would appear that my big toe has made a real dent in the sheepskin inside and looks almost like a hole might appear on the outside - any tips on what i can do to stop that happening?

thanks v much!

bishboschone Fri 14-Jan-11 20:34:14

did yoiu use a wool or delicate detergent. If you washed in normal powder it will have made them a bit hard. As for the toe , that is probably just the way you walk. Not much you can do about that

noddyholder Fri 14-Jan-11 20:39:14

i need to do mine as I use as slippers and they are a bit smelly How do they look?

Japers Fri 14-Jan-11 20:40:41

Are we talking fuggs here or genuine?

noddyholder Fri 14-Jan-11 20:41:06

genuine here

PassionKiss Fri 14-Jan-11 20:43:24

Doesn't the newspaper go all soggy in the wash??

bishboschone Fri 14-Jan-11 20:52:15

are you being serious passion? you stuff them after to dry .

And I am talking Deckers Uggs(real) ...fake ones wash fine too though ime

OhCobblers Fri 14-Jan-11 21:10:52

damn why didn't i ask these questions before i did it?! i used Fairy Non Bio liquid rather than a wool/silk detergent.

any chance they might soften up - someone say yes before i get really depressed sad

for whoever is asking, mine are genuine too.
they do look much better for the wash.

JaxTellersOldLady Fri 14-Jan-11 21:13:37

I washed mine last year. Used non bio liquid and they are fine. Sat them on top of a towel on the radiator to dry. They are fine. Still going strong this year.

OP sure yours will be fine too.

shinydiscoball Fri 14-Jan-11 21:15:19

Do you just put them on a delicates cycle? I'd love to wash mine but I'm too scared! I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but I love mine

maxybrown Fri 14-Jan-11 21:17:48

you have a sticky up big toe when you walk! I have that - teribble - once went through a pair of doc martens hmm

OhCobblers Fri 14-Jan-11 21:19:06

shiny yes i put them on the delicate wash, bt perhaps do as others have suggested, and buy a wool/silk delicate detergent just in case!

thanks Jax fingers crossed eh?!

Alouiseg Fri 14-Jan-11 21:20:05

Just buff them up with a suede block or brush, mine get done regularly.

OhCobblers Fri 14-Jan-11 21:21:34

maxy really? after all these years i hadn't noticed!! i do have a habit of wearing mine with no socks on - do you think thats bad for them?

no, can't be as they're slippers right - i guess maybe i shouldn't wear them on long jaunts then? grin

OhCobblers Fri 14-Jan-11 21:22:32

thanks A off to buy suede block tomorrow.
shouldn't buff them too hard though, right?

Alouiseg Fri 14-Jan-11 21:23:30

Just a rubb over to lift the, erm,!

bishboschone Fri 14-Jan-11 21:24:02

I would think they will soften with wear. dont brush too hard.

maxybrown Fri 14-Jan-11 21:27:12

er well make em smellier quicker maybe grin for me it just means i go through socks very quickly too!
