My skin is a mess in this weather - help!

This happened last year too and it took me ages to sort it out :(

Normally I have combination skin and can keep it in pretty good shape using 'budget' skincare like Olay and Nivea. Since it started being so cold, my chin has broken out in a mixture of spots and irritated dry patches.

I used Avene skin recovery cream last year which sort of worked. It was certainly irritated for a good few weeks.

Any suggestions? I'm happy to spend a bit of money if it's going to help.

Only thing that works wonders on my skin (also combination but generally dry in winter with random spots that just won't go) is pond's cold cream to wash with, and boots vitamin E moisturiser. Have tried all the expensive stuff but nothing else makes my skin so soft and easy to cope with! I only tried the cold cream coz I read somewhere that kylie uses it but I won't be changing my products any time soon! Xxx

Bio oil, used sparingly, with usual moisturinser at might and in morning.

I've been using the oil cleansing method. I wasn't sure it was making much difference and stopped for a week - my skin went all blotchy and red and dry. Within a few days of starting again the tone has evened out and it looks much better with no dry patches.

Whenever I get spotty I have a cathiodermie facial done. Is brilliant for clearing your skin up :)

I've just started using Burts Bees and it's made a noticable difference to my skin. I usually have combination skin with problem spots on my chin, but in this weather I get the lovely added bonus of dry skin on forehead, cheeks and around my nose!

I bought this from Debenhams (cheaper on Amazon though!) and there was a cleanser - kind of like the Liz Earle hot cloth stuff and a day cream in the set, so thought I'd give it a go, and my skin looks lovely! My spots have cleared up and although my skin is still slightly dry it's much better than it was and doesn't feel tight or itchy at all.

i have the same skin type and normally use olay too.

mine is dry in places and also spotty due to combination of cold weather and pregnancy.

i stopped washing my face and now use the bog standard olay cream cleanser in the morning (and no toner) and then their 7 signs moisturiser. i do nothing Blush at night as i'm too sleepy!

Thanks for those suggestions folks. It's really sore today. Stings when I go in the shower :(

Mine is the same and I've just splashed out on Clinique 3 steps Anti Blemish.I'm hoping it works for me as my skin is dire at the moment.

I must say that their Redness Solutions Foundation is bloody excellent!

Liz Earle is fab. Cleanse and polish morning and night, and if you can afford it use this uk.lizearle.com/superskin/superskin-concentrate.html at bed time. Although its an oil it evens out skin. Worked with my skin. :)i use their moisturiser, skin tonic, and eye bright too. It's all fab stuff.
