Was going to go for a nice navy pair but over on Chat the thread says that Hunter's are a big MN no-no!

So who does nice warm comfy wellies?

What thread? What link? Are they mad? How can quality wellies which cost 3x more than standard price be considered bad taste?

Hunter is only chavvy because they are worn by the massses. I like the black crocodile ones which afair Jimmy Choo designed.

Le Chameau & Aigle are particularly warm wellies but a bit ££.

Erm, I am sat here in my navy Hunters just about to take the dog for a walk. They are not in the least bit chavvy and neither am I. They are warm (neoprene lined), sensible boots which stand up the job (lots of dog walking through fields and woodland and chasing around after two DCs).

DH has Aigle wellies. They are not as warm as my lined Hunters :o

I have Hunters (unworn as yet) Am definitely not a 'chav'. If you want Hunters get them and don't worry about the opinion of a bunch of people you have never met.

I really don't see how a pair of wellies can be chavvy?!

Umm, I don't care if "chavs" have hijacked Hunter wellies, they are not chavvy in themselves. Unless they are always spotless and worn by women who drive spotless 4WD - seeking the "look" but not ever getting muddy.

I can't wear wellies, I always fall over in them haha.

I have some lovely leather boots with fleece lining.

No, no, no, no - Hunters are absolutely fine (I am very posh). Barbour are about the same price if you are really bothered.

At the grand old age of nearly 42 I've just ordered myself a pair of navy Hunters. Are they chavvy? Oh well, it's about time I had something of this nature in my wardrobe.

You watch - I'll be buying Uggs next Grin

I have some Hunters which I love! BUT I also do ahve a pair of Joules Wellibobs, which are fur lined and especially wonderful for pulling on on a rainy day, not chav at all, but not mentioning my wellibobs on other gthread for fear of crossfire!! Grin

We a a multi welly family, and have the spotless 4x4 and the dog to compliment the look.

Somehow I dont ever seem to have ' that look' more of a run ragged type air ..

anyway, I digress, Hunters are fine but I had to buy the welly socks as my feet were never warm but I far prefer Barbour, comfy padded insoles, lovely.

They are only wellies! If you are using them for their right and proper purposes such as trudging on the beach in the winter, getting into the compost bin and tiptoeing through the cowpats, then what does it matter?

If you are wearing them as a fashion statement to wander up the Kings Road, then that's just sad.

DH has Le Chameau, I think that they are warmer than my Hunters but are quite tight at the top so when worn with cords, he looks like a bucolic SS officer!

All the really posh people I know, when actually in the countryside, seem to wear Dunlops from the local garden centre....

Spotted someone in edinburgh this week wearing
these wellies

Until I spotted the price, I would have been tempted to get a pair to match my Ness bag.

Ignore them - they're not talking chav they're talking aspirational crap - honestly - if they walked round certain parts of Bristol they'd realise what is 'chavvy'. Horrid word anyway.

I have navy hunters because they're nice and fit well and never rub unlike most wellies.

To be fair the other thread is using its own, errm, unique definition of chavvy.

FFS! So my list grows by the day because I now own:

A pandora
A Sweetie
A barbour
A pair of Hunter wellies

Gregs - I too have a barbour and hunters. And as I said on the other thread - fake tan often, blonde hi-lights and a love of leopard print - there is no hope for me Wink
