Allure for men by Chanel.

Givenchy Pour Homme imo... Although, for the life of me, I can't remember what it smells like.

Polo, however, smells of the 1980s

Allure for men is nice. I think there's a normal one and a 'sport' version.

I bought my "whateverthebloodyhellheis" a really nice Hermes one quite recently. Very helpfully, I can't remember what it was called

No no no it is Dior, Eau Sauvage.

A tiny bit.

(Disclaimer: my DP doesn't wear anything and in fact I prefer men without, but I am confident that that is the "classic".)

Dior Eau Sauvage [nods]. It's a classic, and I can't imagine it not suiting someone.

But if you wanted a 'go to bed wearing nothing but...' Chanel No 5 equivalent and you have recently won the Lottery Creed Royal Water would be my smell of choice.

For me it's probably Eternity for men ( I even bought it for myself once!)

Don't whatever you do buy Issey Miyake, I used to really like it until I read it was the calling card of a very prolific serial rapist who was a black cab driver

I think Eau Sauvage too.

For something even more classic but less mainstream, what about Vetiver or Mouchoir de Monsieur?

Alouiseg · 01/08/2010 23:59

Eau Sauvage or Aramis.

Eau savage or Chanel Allure Homme Sport, which is nicer than the 'straight' version IMO.

Oh yes, definitely Eau Sauvage. That is the classic. Gorgeous and timeless.

Another classic lovely one is Quercus by Penhaligons but Eau Sauvage is the Chanel no 5.

Paco Raban.

Slight highjack here sorry OP but why do mens fragrances always smell sooo much nicer than womens? I am yet to find a fragrance that I actually like enough to wear for myself yet I could quite happily wear most mens fragrances though I know I won't be very alluring to men if I did. Can anyone suggest a clean, soapy fragrance that might appeal to me? Everything I sniff always turns my stomach apart from clean, soapy smells.
