sometimes there is a set book for the course which is mentioned on the website, perhaps you could get this and have a read. As soon as the materials arrive get reading and start, don't wait for the official start date. When your tutor contacts you get talking and attend tutorials if you can as they can help motivationaly as well as academically
Hope this helps
(OU tutor currently on sabbatical as she is overseas!)

riven.. how fabulous
what did you study to prepare yourself?

Know nothing about distance learning, or indeed neuroscience, but just wanted to register how impressed I am. Wow. Good job!

Please keep posting with progress - well done!

blimey, go Riven! grin

Best of luck with it. Maybe you could have a look on the OU forums - there must be a course forum there somewhere where you might be able to get contacts or advice.

Jealous! I want to do neuropharmacology - it's fascinating. I'm in my final year of a degree in biomedical science and thinking about what to do next...
I'm preggers now with number 4 lol so it'll have to wait a year or so but think I'd like to do a PhD - you think I'm being a bit optimistic with 4 kids? I started uni when DD2 was 11 months old, she's now 5 and I'm 29 (started having kids v young )

Good luck with yours though, sounds fab! I'm sure there'll be quite a few mature students on a MSc. On my degree there are 2 of us out of about 60 students and it's quite a 'posh' uni so they're all from very different backgrounds to me! They're all lovely though and it's the best thing I ever did.

Riven wow! What was your first degree and (wow) PHD in?
Neuroscience sounds totally interesting and , like you said, you have read so much about it already!
Best of luck, not that you will need luck!
(Hmm, there is me struggling to get to grips with my BSc)
