What is going on with this site?

Hi to all my friends at Mumsnet.

I am sorry I havent been chatting for a while, but I have been signed off work for 4 weeks and so havent had the constant access to a computer.

What has been going on with this site since Ive been gone? There seems to be certain people that are making bitchy comments and generally ruining every thread going.

What has happened to all the lovely, friendly, kind, jokey chats that used to take place?

Squirrel, Looptheloop, Tarantula, Nellie etc. If you are all still on here then please lets try and get this site "friendly" again.

Love to you all xxx

SADSAM!!!!!!!!! HELLO!!! {{{{hugs}}}}

I agree with you this site has gone really bitchy and I have tried to stay out of it 'cos all of the bitching is not what his site is about. Its really sad that the site has come to this, I hope looptheloop comes back we need stepmums like her and you to help put this site back to the way it was.

I am sooooooo glad your are back and kicking *rse and putting everything right Sadsam , I must admit I havent had the strength to do it myself with everything else thats been going on.

just ignore the bitchy threads - if it is one you started just start a new one.

It seems to go through phases like this - but all the normal people are still there. Much better to ignore the others - they will get bored and go away.

And don't take things personally.

Hi Sadsam. I don't post that often but like reading your step mother threads and I'm not interested in bitching and arguing either. I was a step-mum for 5 years with my exp and am about to embark on it again with my new bf's dds. I know how hard it can be. My bf's exw is a witch but she's not as bad as some of the stories you lot tell which makes me feel a bit better. And luckily my previous dsds and the ones to be all seem to like me so you cheer my up if nothing else!!!!

Hi sadsam, I agree - all this nastiness is not what we come on here for at all!! Lets get things back the way they were!!

Anyway , how is everyone doing? Since I last posted my dh and I have been to away with sd for a few nights (for the first time) which went so well! Sd has a great time , infact we all did, and I found myself being able to forget all the crap and just enjoy myself. We are now planning our next trip in November!!

When I first posted on here I was in a bit of a state, and I remember someone telling me that I needed to learn to detach myself from the situation. At the time I thought to myself that its all very well saying that but how am I suppose to do it?? Well I just wanted to say that about a month ago I got so down it was a case of make or break time, and somehow something in me changed and I found myself able to let things go, not let things that the ex was and still is doing, get to me, and at last just be able to enjoy my life with sd and dh!!! So my advice to anyone struggling out there with the whole stepmum thing is to stick at it, it is hard and it will never be easy but it does get easier, and much more fun as time goes on!

Hi Squirrel (again) lol, welcome Listmaker, hello Nellie and thank you Throckenholt!

Nellie, I am soooooo glad that the holiday went well with SD. You are right, you were very down in the beginning, but as everyone who is a stepmum knows, only you know your situation and how it makes you feel. However, this site has offered some fantastic advice and even if it doesnt help but make you feel better it is a bonus.

I am more than happy to keep the "nice" chats going on here and hopefully the bitchy "minority" will eventually get bored and go away!

The vast majority of people here are still as lovely as ever. Most of us just avoid any threads we find objectionable.
