Preparing DSD for arrival of new baby, advice welcome!

Still early days so won't be telling DSD just yet. She will be 6 and a half by the time baby arrives. Just wondering now how we can help prepare her for the new baby. She's an only child at both houses, doesn't really have much to do with babies anywhere else either. So this is all going to be totally new to her.
So does anyone have any tips on helping her adjust when we do tell her? Especially as I think she may struggle to understand why she spends her time split between two houses and baby won't.
Any good book recommendations for her would be appreciated too!

My sd was around this age when my ds was born. I think at that age I'd make it as much about your SD as possible, highlight how important she's going to be as the big sister and just make is all as positive as possible. We told SDS mum the same day so she was prepared if SD was upset when she went home or had any questions there. It probably won't be until after the baby is born that she realises that the baby will be staying in one home all the time, I don't think my sd ever actually brought that up, she just kind of accepted it. We let her pick out baby clothes, blankets etc as well which I think helped her feel included in the whole thing.

We included DSD as much as possible but also tried to take her lead and not make everything about the baby. If she didn’t seem interested in a particular conversation then we made sure we changed the subject but if she was interested then we included her.

Daddy and Yousee aren’t haveing a baby. DSD7 is having a baby brother or sister. The baby is “ours” as a threesome and isn’t that baby so lucky to have such a super cool big sister?
She will be with us when we find out the sex. She will be helping us pick out the name. We aren’t making her be any more interested than she wants to be but every time we see her she announces how many days it’s is until her baby is born (this kid had better be bang on time!)
Seems to be going well so far. I’m lucky my DSD is a good happy wee soul. Smile
