I'm still a newbie on here but I've had so many positive messages and a lot of practical support that I thought I'd give an update.

After writing about 7 drafts I finally submitted my intention to adopt my 12yo dss along with a Statement of Facts to our Local Authority today. grin I also sent a letter to NC bio mum to her last known address to let her know that I had done so. The £6 international tracked delivery for that was probably a total waste of money as we always get ignored via all means of communication but at least I've covered all bases. (My letter about my intention to apply was ignored 5 months ago, as was Christmas and dss' birthday etc etc.)

And so the waiting game begins... I've spent the whole afternoon swaying between nervous excitement and reminding myself that there is still a 3 month wait before applying to the court plus there's the SW visit and report of course.

But anyway, it's done now and I'm relieved. Hopefully dss will finally become ds smile

Everything crossed for you.

Don't know the back story but there has better be a good one if I'm not to call her a total fucking waste of space.

What mother abandons her child?
I may have a massive chip on my shoulder because of 8 years of unexplained infertility, but still

Thanks everyone! It's so good to have all this virtual support smile cake

Trooperslane the back story is basically that bio mum married the other man's best mate and now tells people that she has no children. I cannot understand it either. But as dss told me when he was about 2 years old, "You found me Mummy so that makes me your baby."

Really sorry to hear about your struggles flowers I don't have any dc and we've never actually tried but I did have an unplanned pregnancy end with a mc a couple of years ago. sad

I'll keep you all posted smile

That back story brought tears to my eyes.

What an awful woman she is and how lucky DSS is to have found his proper Mummy. thankswinebrewstarfor you.

Keep us posted nosey for happy ending

Yeah, she is pretty unique Troopers. She even went as far as tattooing over her c-section scar when she decided to start saying that she had no kids confused Her dh really wants a girl so they are now trying. God help that child if he's born a boy. They openly post on Facebook how determined they are to have a daughter in order to fulfil her dh's dream. Photos on Facebook show that she's removed every trace of dss front her flat and all of his photos have been replaced by ones of her sister's daughter. I find the whole thing really odd and am just glad that they live abroad tbh! hmm

I've just read the thread and your backstory brought a tear to my eye too. So glad your dss found his mummy - you are both very lucky. Good luck flowers

Jesus. There's something seriously wrong with her.

I'm totally disturbed but you know what? Fuck her. She's the adult and has made her choices.

I hope she's truly out of dss's life forever and he isn't too damaged by this.

Morning Troopers Yes I'm the same. I put a lot of energy into trying to get a different outcome but she's not interested so my conscience is clear that we have done what's best for dss.

We have a few common acquaintances and apparently when she's had a few drinks she says that we stole dss. Um no. You signed the court papers more freely than a judge said he'd ever seen (he even called a private meeting with her to check she wasn't under durress) and dss' birthday hasn't changed you know, nor has the date of Christmas. I flew over with him three times to visit her and she either showed up extremely late or not at all. So, we stopped bothering. Why would I keep taking him on a plane to get rejected?

Dss and I are like 2 peas in a pod. He doesn't bother to tell most ppl that I'm his sm. In his words, "You look after me every single day so you're my mum."

What is next for you on your journey? Are you having IVF? I just wondered, hope you don't mind me asking X
