Just to say that I had a lovely card today from my adult stepdaughter, saying 'Thank you for being my stepmother'.

It's been a long road. But worth it.

Aww that's lovely. I'll be lucky to get a 'morning' out the kids this morning.

I actually got flowers yesterday. Dss is 14 and currently with us full time as his dm...... Oh, actually I can't be bothered to say why she doesn't have him any more, but she doesn't. Saw him for an hour last week, let him down on Friday cos she'd had a filling.....too busy going out last night to see him....etc.

Anyway, I organised dss gift for his dm (no idea when he will actually be able to give it to her) . Dp and dss came back from shopping with flowers for me. Dp said he'd spoken to dss about it and my he had agreed enthusiastically.

DH has put on his best frock and gone for a hike with DSD2(17).
I'm sure her DM will remember it is mothers day soon.
The card she has made has enough glitter to be worthy of a 5 yo Grin
DSC don't do me cards after an interesting tantrum a couple of years ago. We just get to make breakfast together, and enjoy each others company.

Marianne - jealous! No very pleased. It's good to know that some out there are appreciated! I'm lucky as I've two of my own. I feel for good step mums out there who don't. I had DSCs today telling what they were getting their mum, as they do every year. One day they may realise how much I did for them, for several years a lot more than their mum, but I'm not holding my breath!

Aw that's nice. I got my SM a mother's day card for the first time in 20 years. Party because she's all alone after my DF died but also because she's been present and there throughout the grief of my DF dying. I miss him so much and it's nice to know she wants me to still be a part of the family even though there's no blood ties any more.

Actually she's not alone, she has lots of kids but doesn't hurt to be appreciated a little more.

Queen, that's so nice. If I had that it would mean so much! So good for you. Lovely thought.

I dont live with my dp yet but he has his children full time. I am very conscious not to seem like i am trying to take their mum's place (she is deceased).
This year tho, the youngest child asked his dad if he could get me something. My dp had a chat about him having a mum (not me) and also chatted with me to see how I felt about it all (i am happy to take their lead) so both children ended up picking me a small gift each. I was very touched and really appreciate the fact they feel the way they do about me.
