It's the DM so avoid if you want to. I just thought it was a really lovely

Strange nobody has posted here. I read the article but something didn't sit right. Maybe because he is so gushy and I'm an old cynic but it came across as a bit patronising and icky!!
But then again I am premenstrual and grumpy today grin

Thanks for being the first to respond Kaluki!
I also thought it tacky but was afraid I was being vaguely mean
Is it just me or does his present partner not look a bit like an older double of his dsd? Or was it a printing error and it is in fact featuring him and the dsd mother??

Fair point. I may well have been in an overly sentimental mood when I read it, hence me posting. Or maybe I was just projecting a little - my DD would love the sort of experiences Packham has given his DSD. smile

Beats the WSM angle the DM usually goes for <clutches at straws> grin

I thought it was a positive article, I mean I'm sure he didn't script the nauseating headline but it's always nice to see committed step parents portrayed in the media.

Yes it does make a nice change but its interesting how its a stepfather who is the superhero and stepmothers are usually the evil ones.
Don't you think that men who 'take on' stepchildren are held up as heroes yet us stepmums are expected to do it and vilified if we dare to complain.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels Wed 05-Feb-14 11:15:26

That thought did occur to me Kaluki. Not too dissimilar to the vilification 'single mums' get in comparison to 'single dads'. Men in general get the heroic tag when it comes to caring for, and spending time with, their DC or SDC whereas women, generally, are expected to pick up the slack and cheerily get on with it.

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to post the link after all grin

Couldn't agree more with the last two posters!

Agree worth the previous posters. Id like to see a positive article about stepmums. Stepdads quite often get good press for looking after another mans child. Not so much stepmums. Maybe I'm skewed by too long on mn.
