Planning to get a Brompton for commuting. I have had a go on my friend's, and 'built' the bike I want on the website. It has given me a code to take to a shop, where it says they will build it for me. Has anyone done this? Did it work?! Or will the shop want me to buy one they already have? Am I being a total noob thinking I want particular things?!
Bike shops scare me blush

Phone around to find a shop that say they are happy to build one for you. Then visit & make sure they seem organised.
You're the customer, you're the boss! Tell them what YOU want. They should be happy to have your custom.

that said, they may spot a flaw in your build plan, it would be their job to tell you if they thought certain things were a bad combo. Bikeradar is a good place to get a sounding board ... although Brommie fans must have their own discussion boards, too.
