In the spirit of previous rolling Football threads, would posters sign in with:

  1. What country/countries you support
  2. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?
  3. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?
  4. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

I'm conflicted as I am Welsh and seeing as we are there for the first time in 50 odd years (longer than I've been around) I feel I should obviously support them!

But I have always cheered England in the past so will continue to do so!

Not a fan of Germany, Argentina or Brazil.

Don't have kids. Friends of mine who are going though thought they got a great rate on a hotel for the England/wales match in Lens. They'd actually booked Lens, Switzerland Grin

  1. None. I'm Scottish.
  2. None really.
  3. Nothing. Football is an anathema round these parts.
  4. RASHFORD!!!!

Don't feel conflicted Tragicomical. There's no harm in supporting both England and Wales. There's a decent chance that both teams will make it out of the same group, and not meet again, and not really any chance that either of them will win the thing.

You will, however, be conflicted the day England play Wales. 2pm on a weekday! There's not going to be much work going on in the UK that day! Who will you support during that match?

That Rashford debut last night was all kinds of enjoyable, Pan.

I'm a great believer in 'if they're good enough, they're old enough'. But I'm also a great believer that the English build up people too quickly. Happened with Barkley, happened with Walcott, happened with Wilshere etc etc. That's my only reservation about taking Rashford so soon.

Will be supporting Wales, only Wales. I don't really get the whole 'well, support any home country just because, without having a connection to them'. My partner and family will only be supporting England (poor sods, yet another few weeks of disappointment ahead Grin).

Not a fan of the English team, they are just a bunch of egos who can't work as a team. It's a shame as they have a few genuinely good players (not a touch on Bale of course). Our child is too young to get involved, we don't tend to go nuts about sports anyway. The only team that will be followed long term in our house is Arsenal.

  1. England (but really enjoy the football that Spain play)
  2. none at the moment
  3. collecting the panini stickers - they're at the age to understand now. Did the World Cup ones last time (more for me to reminisce about my childhood!)
  4. issues - France leaving Ben Arfa out after his epic season at Nice. Player wise - hoping Sterling has a decent tournament as this season he's been a bit meh.

True BB..BUT...Owen and Rooney survived very well at that young age. The word around Utd is that he has no sides at all. Just sees it as playing footie with his mates. And the most quoted note is " He just gets on with it."

Alright Bran, fellow Gooner.

I suspect your Welsh Arsenal player will do better than the English Arsenal player, Wilshire.

Is Ramsay still Wales captain?

  1. England , ROI die to household nationalities . Spain too.
  2. None really except a Welsh / NI victory won't be hugely applauded
  3. Panini flipping stickers aaaaaargh
  4. Thought for a bit that Borini may play for Italy and I could enjoy that. Should Defoe be there ? Will O'Neil be a hero ?

Only a Gooner by default! Ashley Williams is the current cap, as for Wiltshire, good luck keeping him off the stretcher. We say Jack probably has a special one with his name engraved on it, he's injured so often Wink.

Anyone watching the Champions'League final? Anyone support Real Madrid? I'm interested in Bale, and I respect Ronaldo even though I can't stand him. Prefer Atletico to win.

I'd be supporting the Netherlands if they'd qualified. As it is I hope England do well.

I don't dislike any of the national teams really.

Don't have kids.

I'm still not convinced by England's defence.

Besides En-ger-land, I'm looking forward to watching Spain and Belgium.

No European teams disliked here but in true British fashion, we hate the Argies.

Probably having a couple of footy parties. I tend to make something English and something from the country of the opposing side. Last World Cup, we got the map out and looked up some of the different countries.

Vardy should be entertaining and if Lallana can stop rubbing Nivea cream into his face for 90 minutes then even better : )

  1. England, and Germany (only when England get knocked out, as I appreciate them knocking Argentina out of the last 3 world cups)

  1. RoI, Scotland, Italy are the countries I always hope to see lose.

  1. Sweepstakes, prediction contests etc

  1. Hoping Roy will drop Rooney if he isn't delivering.

I don't really get the whole 'well, support any home country just because, without having a connection to them.

I don't get that either. It doesn't happen at club level does it? I doubt many Liverpool fans sat down to watch the FA cup and thought, 'I really hope our north west England brethren get a result here.'

I live in Scotland but was born in England but live in Scotland and I love the rivalry. I love the fact that the sales of Slovakia shirts will rocket in Scotland and you'll see ABE (Anyone but England) shirts everywhere. If I were braver I'd get an SNP shirt made up (Scotland not playing). I also love the fact that how shite England are, Scotland will always be shiteier.

We are neighbours and traditional rivals on and off the football pitech. Course we should want the other to loose.*

*For the avoidance if doubt, I'm talking purely in terms of a football rivalry. I love Scotland and am so well assimilated I can dance the Slosh.

England!

Don't really like Poland or Wales,

England's defence is dire, it really worries me at a time when we're looking really dynamic offensively. Joe Hart has worried me this season - it's a real shame Butland got injured vs Germany, think he would have provided good competition.

As for dislike, I hope Ramsay gets sent off in first game or gets his bollocks smashed, arrogant pretentious twat that he is.

As Euro 2016 is approaching:

  1. What country/countries you support

Portugal
Soft spot for England

  1. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?

Greece. I'll never forgive them that final.
Traditionally Spain, but France are the thorns in the shoe, primarily.

  1. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?

DS bought a Portugal T-shirt today.

  1. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

Maybe they should get the under 17s to play (recent European champions)
The winning team tends to have a core from a successful club team. I don't think Portugal has that. I wonder if it will come from Real or Bayern.

England and Belgium (family connections)
  1. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?

I should dislike the French, but cannot as I have family there. I used to hate the Argentinians, but have in a sense grown up and.or forgiven them.
  1. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?

We're not- I'm going to a game in Paris, rest of the family will spend the day at EuroDisney.
  1. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

Pity that Wales v England is at such a small ground, though Lens is well worth a visit at other times of the year for the Louvre satellite museum.

  3. DD is a massive football fan and is currently celebrating her team's promotion so we're going to enjoy the football together Grin
  4. Very much hoping Hodgson takes Rashford, glad that Delph has been taken out of the equation (obviously not glad he's injured) as I don't rate him at all. I enjoyed seeing Rooney play in a deeper midfield role on Friday night.
