Accommodation in Glasgow for Commonwealth Games

Ok. We have tickets. We would love a wee hotel to stay in overnight, just one night, with the dc. This would be a wee treat and make a holiday out of it. Our tickets are for an evening event, so the notion of sauntering back late to a hotel is appealing, then being in Glasgow for free events the next day. Expedia has nothing for that date. All premier inns have no availability within a 20m radius. Holiday Inn express: full. Jury's Inn: no availability. Etc etc. we have been trawling. Dh found a 3 star guesthouse for £1500 - yes, really - for one night. Are these chain hotels blocked out to be released closer to the time? C'mon Glasgow. Encourage us to stay!
