So its been announced today that the victory parade will take place through London on MONDAY 10th September.

For all the families who could not afford/get tickets (but paid for the Olympics via taxes), for all the kids who have been transfixed by the games, thank you LOCOG for planning this on a day when all the kids are back at school.

I know that people will say, well if you live on London then you can get there, but us lot out here in the suburbs are still Londoners, but unless the parade is in the evening, then we can't be there.

I am massively dissapointed.

Yes Team GB victory parade.

For past celebrations have the victory parades been at the weekend? If so, YANBU. (Even though you didn't ask)

Rugby World Cup winning parade through London in 2003 was on a Monday.

The Great River Race is on in Central London on Saturday 15, so they presumably couldn't do it then. And the London Design Festival starts on Friday 14 and runs for a week.

Does anyone know where it will be taking place?

According to BBC, "The BOA spokeswoman said the route is likely to be from the Guildhall to the Mall, though this could change."

What's the 'finale'?

My guess, based on no knowledge at all, is that the Monday is to do with crowd control. If you cut out school children and their parents, you have a lot fewer people to plan for?

Oh stop moaning! That's when it all finishes!

Take the kids out of school if you want to go, it's only one day. I may well do just that.

They had a parade after the last Olympics too (it went past my office at Piccadilly) and it was on a weekday (as I was in the office!).

I'm thinking about going to the parade.. but I have no idea what time I should be thinking about getting there for..
I know it's going to be crazy busy, but to get a good spot (at the front would be nice) what sort of time do you think I need to get there for? As early as 8am? earlier? or later?
Think it starts at 1.30pm.
