Hi Sporners,

I've lightly lurked around sporner's corner but never posted here before.

I have the biggest spot I have ever seen on my chin. It has been growing for over a week with no head. This evening I could see a tiny head (I think it's going to be one of those multi headed monsters). I held a hot flannel over and squeezed. Some very yellow liquid pus and blood came out, so I repeated a few more times but now it just really hurts and I can't squeeze anymore out.

Please can anyone advise what to do with this beast?

Keep holding a warm compress on it, but don't squeeze it anymore yet. Leave it overnight and then try re-squeezing it again in the morning.

Try sudocreme it will dry it out . Or you could pop round to me and I will pop it for you...

Oh, that's a big one. I don't think I've seen anyone with a bigger spot in my entire 53-year old life!

I don't think it can be rushed, it will heal by itself and whatever you do don't squeeze! Or stick your fingers (full of bacteria) near it. Meanwhile, let people offer to comfort your pain with drinks and snacks while they are feeling severely sorry for you.

I have a monster spot at the moment too. I gave it a slight squeeze yesterday and the gunk inside hit the mirror

Wow I feel so special It is truly horrific although seems to be less swollen this morning. Last night that side of my chin had almost doubled in size!
I would quite happily confine myself to my bed for the next couple of weeks if I could, so as not to inflict the sight of my volcanic chin on any innocent passers by. I think I'll have to learn to live with it for a while as it looks like it's a keeper .
I'll hot flannel it later this morning when my DS is safely installed in front of CBeebies and post the results.

Seriously bad advice. It's easy enough to deal with the possibility of cross-infection by normal hygiene precautions, and I never know why people think it's better for you to have a load of gunk and bugs trapped on your face. These things come to a head because nature wants to get rid of the infection and its consequences.

They are man in the iron mask type things. Very effective though.

I had a massive allergic reaction on my face before Xmas, literally couldn't leave the house. I could tell the difference in a day.

I've not managed to get out today so no magnesium sulphate but I have dotted sudocream on a few times throughout the day and it does seem to have reduced the swelling and it's definitely not as sore. I'm going to hot flannel it before bed and see what delights emerge!

It's all a but anti-climatic really. The sudocrem has really taken the swelling down and dried it out, so no obvious head at all. I have a feeling there will be a second coming though!
