I have an “infected cyst” on my leg (side of my knee) and I’ve been given antibiotics. It is SO painful (and I have a 6 week baby I birthed with no pain relief!)! Is there anything I can do to ease the pain or make the damn thing pop?! I can’t see a head and squeezing it makes me dizzy!

Magnesium sulphate and then cover it and leave it alone. Day or two and it will come out. Try to leave it for now. Antibiotics need to kick in by the look of it. Dp had similar on his forehead some years ago. It was quite dramatic.

That looks incredibly sore. Poor you.

How is it today OP ? Draw a line around the edge of the redness to make sure it’s not getting bigger.

Ugh. Thought I would update. Day 4 on antibiotics and things have umm evolved.

Magnesium sulphate is going on tonight - what will happen?!?!

KarriPotter Tue 10-Oct-17 19:29:51

Wowza 😱 good luck squishing that beauty.

IamEarthymama Tue 10-Oct-17 19:30:47

Oh bless you, that looks so painful!
I hope the mag sulph draws out the rest of the gunk.
I am also admiring your restraint in not popping it, I know I would not be able to resist!

Doublemint Tue 10-Oct-17 19:31:41

shockwow! Will need updating OP!

abbsisspartacus Tue 10-Oct-17 19:33:36

Hopefully it will burst and drain

ellenanora5 Tue 10-Oct-17 19:35:12

Holy moly, that must be agony, fair play for updating, how are you feeling now.

flumpybear Tue 10-Oct-17 19:35:19

Ouch!!!! Hope you’re ok that looks more like a boil!

MummySparkle Tue 10-Oct-17 21:38:08

Ouch!!

Katurah Tue 10-Oct-17 21:38:49

I went back to the doctors and he was a bit baffled as it’s a bit like a blister on top of a big lump. He pondered if I’d been bitten by something but I know I’ve had a little cyst there for years.

What will the magnesium do? I want to be around when this goes! I have tried squeezing it but it’s just too painful😩

Katurah Wed 11-Oct-17 20:41:48

Just rang 111 - it’s suddenly got much worse in the last hour.

I’m really worried to be honest!

MummySparkle Wed 11-Oct-17 21:19:31

Oh cricket. What did they suggest? Are you still on antibiotics?

ellenanora5 Wed 11-Oct-17 21:19:52

Oh no, you did the right thing, that's very painful looking, have you a temp Katura, I'd say that needs a doctor.

Katurah Wed 11-Oct-17 21:24:39

I’ve been sent to out of hours to assess - what a nightmare! I don’t feel ill, it’s just really painful!!

ellenanora5 Wed 11-Oct-17 21:31:30

I think that's the best place to be Katurah, I can imagine the pain of it, had one in my arm pit once, hopefully they'll sort you out asap.

poppym12 Wed 11-Oct-17 21:39:13

Bloody hell, that looks sore. Hope they can do something to ease your discomfort.

MummySparkle Wed 11-Oct-17 21:54:45

Hope you don’t have to wait too long OP. Hopefully they can give you some relief. OOH is the best place for you right now

Katurah Wed 11-Oct-17 22:13:30
