I'm in soooo much pain. I have an infected cyst in my armpit, it's really big under the skin, much bigger than golf ball. Iv been to the doctors and they just gave me antibiotics. Will mag sulphate help? Iv got some coming today but have never used it before. This is not my first cyst but I'm in too much pain to think clearly, Help me!!! I do have photos.
Doing the school run in 10mins but will be back.

Photos for you.

Ooh you poor sod. I used to get those but menopause has sorted it out. I would def use the mag sulph, and get busy with the pain control too. You must be beside yourself, how are you keeping your arm down by your side?? Feminax Ultra are the business, or they were for me.

IAmALionTamer Wed 22-Mar-17 15:01:49

Ouch, it looks sore OP.
I had something similar a few years ago and warm compresses helped to draw it out. I can't comment on mag sulphate as have never used it but it's meant to be good.
The relief when I was able to squeeze mine out was immense. Disgustingly fascinating!! grin

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 15:04:47

It's less painful with my arm down but squeezed in sort of. The only pain relieve I have a zapain and they are not touching it. Have cried on and off today and can't see my getting much sleep again tonight.

This is my second armpit cyst in two years but I was pregnant with the last one and really poorly so took myself to a&e who drained it.
Doc said yesterday just to wait for antibiotics to sort it.
Can't wait for the mag sulphate to be delivered.

I used to get these - rotten. They really fucking hurt. Weirdly my stepmother thought it was hilarious.

Mag sulphate will defo help. But TBH at that size I'm surprised GP isn't draining it. If push for that. Antibiotics are notoriously poor at tackling them.

Poor you.

JaneEyre70 Wed 22-Mar-17 16:05:07

Yes lots of magnesium sulphate and warm compresses to draw it out. That looks incredibly painful OP, you poor thing! I had an infected lymph node under my chin and that took me fairly close to my pain tolerance level....take Ibuprofen too if you are able, as they are anti-inflammatory.

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 16:14:48

It's getting really unbearable now but the mag sulphate has been delivered so I can't wait for a hot bath and to try that.
I do have ibuprofen too so will take them aswell. My docs don't drain them they send you to a&e.

I had one on my arse (it was a beauty by all accounts but DH wouldn't take a photo) took two lots of antibiotics and mag sulph to clear it.

The second lot of antibiotics that worked kicked in, in about 36 hours.

I still have the indent I'm sorry though they are stupidly painful.

I've had one of those before - was in hospital for removal under GA, followed by District Nurse visits every other day for about a month for dressing changes.
Very painful - I sympathise, but not as excruciating as the pilonidal sinus I also had - similar thing but at the base of the spine. Also needed draining under GA.

I suffer with these all the time they are almost as bad as tooth ache! Dr recommend that I should stop shaving and using any sprays. I've done this for 6 months and I've stopped getting them. Dreading the summer when I start shaving again.

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 16:52:06

I have had quite a few different cysts the first being in my eye when I was 5 and the worst one being very very close to my arse at 17.
They are so bloody painful, I think I'm going to end up with it being drained because at the moment I can't take much more of the pain.
The one in my armpit when I was pregnant was much worse than this & they drained it with only a numbing spray as I have malignant hypothermia so no anaesthetic for me, I'm dreading it.

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 16:53:15

Any tips on how to use the mag sulphate?

UnbornMortificado Wed 22-Mar-17 18:06:39

I DH just slathered it on and put a large plaster (like a wound one iyswim) over the top. Popped same day but redressed twice a day for about 5 days just incase of infection.

It was very dignified blush

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 18:40:08

I'll just whack some on with a dressing of some sort tonight and hope it works it's magic.
Mine is definitely infected, that's why its so painful.

UnbornMortificado Wed 22-Mar-17 20:14:14

Can you not get any stronger pain relief? I was on codeine for about three weeks. Is it not classed as a abscess when it becomes infected?

stabbybitch Wed 22-Mar-17 20:37:16

I'm going to make another appointment at the doctors tomorrow I think, hopefully I'll get better pain killers then. I didn't even get pain killers yesterday just antibiotics. I already had the zapain from 3 weeks ago when I had a kidney infection.
The mag sulphate smells great!

UnbornMortificado Wed 22-Mar-17 20:43:18

At least your armpit is a bit more dignified then other areas.

Every nurse in my GP's surgery has seen my arse. I'm surprised DH still married me.

Seriously though you need decent pain relief they are excruciating especially infected.

JaneEyre70 Wed 22-Mar-17 22:04:46

Yes just clean the area well, then stir the mag paste, apply a good thick layer, and cover with a good dressing. I get horrid boils on my legs if I risk shaving, and this is the only thing that draws it out.

TheChippendenSpook Wed 22-Mar-17 22:08:00

You have my sympathy! I had one like that, that had to be drained under general anaesthetic. It was so painful!

OrlandaFuriosa Sat 25-Mar-17 15:09:03

How is it?

And you? grin

Hope better

stabbybitch Sat 25-Mar-17 22:39:09

Much better today thank you Orlanda as I had it drained at a&e last night which was pretty horrific to be honest.

I was in so much pain by last night that when I saw my Aunty she chucked me in the car and took me herself as I was pretty delirious by that point.

A&E was really quite so I went straight to minors who dosed me up with morphine but even that wasn't touching the pain but just making me careless about it.

The surgeon was a twat who ripped my arm above my head & poked and prodded it and left me in tears to his lovely assistant who done a fantastic job at calming me down being gentle, she really was amazing.

Instant relief from the pressure, and the actual drainage wouldn't have disappointed any of you sporners. The smell was horrific (dead animal horrific)

Warning - do not take dihydrocodeine if you haven't eaten for 2days, you will puke!

Pestilentialone Sat 25-Mar-17 22:41:19

flowers give your aunt a big hug when you are up for contact again.

stabbybitch Sat 25-Mar-17 22:46:09

Pest she was amazing too, she stayed with me the whole time and we didn't get in till 1am. I called her earlier in a dihydrocodeine haze and thanked her and probably talked crap for the 10mins till she told me to hang up and go back to bed and would see me on Monday. I luffs her!
