....tapeworm or anything horrendous please!

Have had slightly infected stitches from episiotomy (two weeks ago) and fanjo has been v sore. Was on antibiotics for a week which cleared things up but yesterday (couple of days after finishing tablets) I had more bleeding, soreness and this critter thing when I wiped.

I could have sworn it moved when I first saw it but that might have been my sleep deprived mind getting all freaked out.

Please put my mind at rest!

I really don't know. I'd get a GP to look x

Hmm, looks a bit long to be a suture, and a bit too thick? (caution - no medical qualifications here, just working from memory of sutures I've seen removed in the past). But the timing would be about right for dissolving sutures to dissolve - I think. Maybe pop it in a jar and let a nurse or doctor have a look.

It looks knotted at the top. I vote stitch (also no medical qualifications at all, not even a first aid certificate)

I could be wrong but that looks too thick to be a stitch

Difficult to see clearly but that looks a little like one of the ties that hold together swabs used during suturing.

It's not a suture.

PikachuSayBoo · 13/09/2016 06:30

No such thing as too long for an epis sutures because it's one continuous suture. So when you start using it it's like a foot long and you stitch what you need to stitch and it it when you've finished.

Looks too small to be a swab tie.

But I can't tell from the photo whether it's a suture, sorry.

There's something which looks like a knot where the loop and the 'tail' (!!) meet, if that helps.

Sorry, but I think it's a worm. The ends would be blunt if it was suture, and it just doesn't look the right colour or texture for a stitch.

JedRambosteen · 13/09/2016 06:51

It looks like a roundworm to me.

It looks far to thick to be a suture. They really are quite thin.

I'm beginning to accept the gruesome possibility that it's a worm of some kind! ConfusedConfused
Off to the GPs in a mo. He was most intrigued to find out I'd taken pictures....a fellow sporner, perhaps. Grin
I think the knot is actually where the worm thing has tangled itself up....
Please - for the love of God - don't whatever you do Google image ringworm. Even you hardened sporners! (They have teeth, ffs)
Will update you when I'm back.
Ttfn and thanks for all your wise words!

have you been to the gp yet?

I googled round worms. The I google imaged round worms. It was amazing! I kind of want you to have round worms now. The pictures of those fuckers in eyes are gruesome.

Well, OK, for your comfort I hope it isn't a round worm. Maybe.
